Superstar Cher and comedienne Kathy Griffin have launched a last-minute attempt to convince Americans to vote for U.S. President Barack Obama when they head to the polls on Tuesday (06Nov12). The Believe hitmaker, who is a staunch Democrat, regularly uses her Twitter.com profile to criticise Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney. Now she has joined forces with her pal Griffin to take Republican politicians to task over their stance on women's rights following a series of controversial comments made by veteran party members. In the new public service announcement (PSA), they mock U.S. Senate candidate Richard Mourdock, who recently came under fire for claiming pregnancies resulting from rape were part of God's plan, as well as Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, who Cher likens to Dracula. Griffin uses the title of one of Cher's greatest tracks to hit home her point, saying, "Romney and his buddies are trying to turn back time on women's rights." Cher adds, "There's a lot at stake for women and people who like and respect women."
