British rapper/singer Plan B was also a big winner on the night - he was named Best Male and Best Hip Hop/Grime artist - just two nights after missing out on the revered Mercury Music Prize to rockers Alt-J.

Hip-hop superstar Nicki Minaj was honored with the Best International Act, while Rita Ora was named Best Newcomer.

Soul legend Dionne Warwick was presented with the MOBO Lifetime Achievement prize and the surviving members of R&B group TLC, Tionne "T-Boz"  Watkins and Rozonda "Chili" Thomas, were on hand to receive the MOBO Outstanding Achievement award.
