Singer Pink says she battles feelings of self-doubt every time she records new music and constantly worries she has lost her ability to sing.
Find: Did Pink's daughter contribute to new album?
The singer has topped charts around the world and won a slew of awards, including three Grammys, but she admits she is still plagued by insecurity before stepping into the studio.
"Every album, I'm worried that I'm a dork and a fraud -- what if I can't sing anymore?" she tells Rolling Stone magazine. "Then I stop thinking and start playing guitar, and I realize that it's OK to suck, and move forward. Then it clicks and I'm like, 'I'm f---ing awesome!'"
Pink, who became a new mother last year, also says her upcoming sixth studio album, "The Truth About Love," features her trademark angry anthems, despite the singer feeling happier than ever.
She adds, "It's very easy for me to tap into 'Go f--- yourself'. Maybe that's the only way I feel powerful. I'm in the best place I've ever been in my life, and I'd say it's 80 percent happiness and 20 percent sheer confusion and fear that I'll f--- it up somehow. I'm consumed by my emotions."
P!nk is one of the few artists who has the genuine ability to tap into honest emotion others can identify with and feel as though she has put into words the mixed up, roller coaster, heartache, elation and love that makes up life and relationships that their soul has been screaming inside but been unable to articulate. It's OK to be insecure because it is those insecurities that help you to grow and become stronger and more understanding of yourself and others.
For those who don't get it, listen to or read the words. The depth is incredible and honest. No sugar-coating everything's-gonna-come-up-roses crap. Sometime things suck! Sometimes things don't work out the way you want them to. You fall, you get scarred and it hurts and you have to keep moving forward because the world doesn't stop for you no matter how much you wish it would. Then, when you get up, guess what, it's gonna happen again, but you are stronger this time. P!nk makes you know that even though you feel completely alone in the world, you're not. Someone else knows how you feel so you must not be the only one who has been through it. Listening to P!nk sing the pain that you feel is empowering and healing because she is a kick-**** chick who doesn't try to turn the story into a fairy tale ending. She is honest and helps you to find the strength within yourself because "you are perfect" regardless of what others in society may say. She encourages people to be who they are instead of what others want them to be.
"Done looking for the critics, cause they're everywhere
They don't like my jeans, they don't get my hair
Exchange ourselves and we do it all the time
Why do we do that, why do I do that (why do I do that)?"
Don't exchange yourself. Stand firm in your beliefs and be true to yourself. It's OK to not like P!nk, she'd be the first to tell you that it's cool. Different strokes for different folks. But you don't have to be mean about it. Accept that people are different from you and don't be afraid to be who you are. How you choose to respect the differences of yourself and others helps define your character.
P!nk is an amazing artist who puts on an awesome show! I feel bad for the people who don't get her. They are missing out on a helluva time! But that's OK. I appreciate their right to have crap taste in music ... JUST KIDDING! It's cool. See how that works? Easy. Be nice. :D
I LOVE P!NK!!!
