They get knocked down, but this time they won't get up again. Though the world seems to have long since forgotten about '90s rock group Chumbawamba -- of "Tubthumping" fame -- the band members announced on their official website plans to dissolve after a three-decade career.

The statement, posted on the aptly titled Chumba.com, detailed the members' plans to end things "with neither a whimper, a bang or a reunion. Thirty years of ideas and melodies, endless meetings and European tours, press releases, singalong choruses and Dada sound poetry, finally at an end." The band had remained relatively inactive in recent years, although they performed in and recorded the soundtrack for the "Big Society!" musical in Leeds earlier this year.
Chumbawamba plan to play their way out of 2012 with a string of fall and early winter shows. "We do, of course, reserve the right to re-emerge as Chumbawamba doing something else entirely," the statement reads, closing with what seems to be the nail in the coffin: "frankly, that's not very likely."
"Tubthumping," the group's 1997 hit, peaked at No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and spent nine weeks at No. 1 on the Pop Songs chart. Chumbawamba's "Tubthumper" album hit No. 3 on the Billboard 200 with 3.2 million sold in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Chumbawamba is an awesome band! They might have had only one hit in the charts, they have many great songs!
From the wiki: Chumbawamba were at the forefront of the 1980s anarcho-punk movement, frequently playing benefit gigs in squats and small halls for causes such as animal rights, the anti-war movement, and community groups. The band's collective political views are often described as anarchist.
Go to youtube and listen to these awesome songs!!
