This Cd will influence and educate you in one way or another. A really great album. Was this review helpful? Rolling Stone readers voted it as the second worst album of the year. And my my, how mistaken they were. Since then Rolling stone has changed their view on the album, changing it's rating to 4 stars and inducting it into the album hall of fame. Pinkerton is unlike any Weezer album to come out. Unlike their debut album, Pinkerton doesn't have frontman Rivers Cuomo singing about D&D and Buddy Holly. Here he matures not only as a songwriter, but as a musician. This is a must-have for anyone. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful As much as I thoroughly enjoy the Blue album, Pinkerton one-ups it in every conceivable way. The songs are written at a much higher level, the guitar solos are some of the best this side of Angus Young, it has a grittier, dirtier sound, and the lyrics...my God, the lyrics. They manage to incredibly personal and vulnerable, but never are they whiny or annoying. You might not love this one on the first listen through, but stick with it. You'll see that this is not only Weezer's best effort, but that it is probably the best effort from anyone in the last decade. Was this review helpful? Sign In 3 out of 5 users found this helpful I'm not saying this album !@#$s but.. One I think it needs a little more speed. Two more green and blue. It needs more of the green and blue albums. I still listen to it but it is not my favorite. Weezer is still the bomb though! Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 11/7/2003A review of Pinkerton by PageofCups3 This is the best album. I've listened to it countlessly, and it's not something you can fully appreciate on first listen. I didn't all that much at first but recognized it to be incredible, unique, genius, on my own, before getting on internet and realizing how I'm not the only one who recognized that. This wasen't mainstream, I suppose, but it really is a gem, it's my favorite Weezer album, although it was another (Green) that drew me to the group initially. It has been labeled as "aggressive" and such, and I am a pretty mellow listener, yet I see the depth, especially the emotional honesty has really touched me, behind the hard rock which I've really come to appreciate as part of it, it's just ... unique. The lyric and music arrangement is excellent. Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful When I first got this CD, the only Weezer album I had heard was Blue. My first impression was that this album was very inferior. As I listened to it more, I realized the songs have meaning behind them. The lyrics are interesting. I think the music (guitar)is a little lacking but I am willing to excuse that because there is very obvious talent. Just because this is an emo album doesn't mean it's bad. Was this review helpful? I had heard Buddy Holly and The Sweater song from their first album, but I sampled all of Pinkerton at the music store and I was an instant Weezer freek! Immediately bought the blue album as well, and couldn't wait till they put out a new record. Unfortunately I had to wait 4 more years, but definately worth the wait. I am a little older than most Weezer fans, but I am always hungering for new music. The topper was seeing Weezer live in 2001 for the green album tour. I was moved to tears several times through the concert.GO SEE WEEZER LIVE!!!!!THE SONG: ";ONLY IN DREAMS"; WAS A LIFE ALTERING EXPERIENCE!!! CHOW! Was this review helpful? Every song has a good beat and awesome lyrics to go along with them. Inspirational. Wish I'd gotten this album earlier. Was this review helpful? Each of these songs are heartfelt, and inspiring. The beautiful this about this record is that, like a person, it seems to fluctuate between emotions. Happy, sad, and inbetween. On this record Rivers defined ";Emo"; while guys like Chris Carabba were still in College Was this review helpful? It has a different sound, but it is still great. It's one of those albums where it sounds weird at first but as you listen you get hooked, so don't judge on first impressions if you don't like it, just give it a chance. Was this review helpful?
