It starts out with a bright song "ordinary day" which quickly morphs into a strong "unsung". Then, hope and brightness takes up the hit "a thousand miles".
"pretty baby" is more hazy and "rinse" is saying, you can change your mistakes. It's not too late. "sway" and "paradise" are songs to represent the times where you can't do anything about somethig. "prince" gives the state of mind you are in when you are, well, with a prince...i guess...
Then, comes the darkness of "paint it black" and "wanted". Those songs add real depth to this CD.
Finally, the calmness of "twilight". This ends the album very well.
In all, this album is a great masterpiece of work. Was this review helpful? **~~Wonderful!~~** Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 4/22/2005A review of Be Not Nobody by anonymous590 I love this song so much. It is so gentle yet energetic and very sweet. Vanessa keeps her voice very pure and beautiful, as usual, in this song. Was this review helpful? Having been wowed by A Thousand Miles when it was on the charts, I downloaded a few other tunes and then ended up buying her whole album. I can honestly say I like every song in it, and that doesn't happen for me very often. Although she is not a trained singer, what she does is very well-suited to her music; and the songwriting here is excellent, with decent lyrics as well as solid, interesting music. I'd recommend this album to almost anyone. Was this review helpful? Her voice is worse than flat - it's as annoying as a papercut or finger nails on a chalkboard. Everytime I hear one of her off-pitch creations I want to "HOWARD DEAN" scream. The current "Time on your side" commercial being used by Time Warner is a fine example of the fact that teenie boppers will by any mass produced crap they create.
She stinks. Was this review helpful? I started listening to the music and honestly its awsome! "A Thousand Miles", while that song is a classic and a pop hit, her other songs have almost an orginal jass affect to them and the fact that she writes her own beats and lyrics makes it even better! I reccomend all of the songs but I especially personally reccomend, "Rinse", a jazzy, pop, orginal song that tells the classic story of a girl who cant let go of a bad relationship (And yet Vanessa makes it orginal and not cheesy which in my opinion awsome!), Ordinary Day for your morning time music, (Its the kinda song that makes you want to start your day and live life to the fullest), and "Pretty Baby" if your looking for a sweet piano mixture with a bit of classic story of love and crushes. Oh and if your looking for a good dance beat , listen to "Paint it Black" if your feeling a little sexy and mysterious. But to sum up, this CD is deffinatly worth buying and listening too! My faovrite song is, I don't know which my favorite is! It is all just so full of inspiration and deep meanings. I can't see how any real person couldn't have it in thier collection, whether small or big, or huge, it's great. A true classique, but with a style that people like me can appreciate! When I first heard "1000 Miles" over the radio I instantly took a liking to it. Now, after I've searched high and low for this album, I finally have it. And its wonderful. Its goes to show how much talent and potential Vanessa has. She has incorprated the use of a piano in her songs. It doesn't sound out of place too. It fits perfectly. A wonderful piece of work. I'll be awaiting her next album. This is a great piece of work. Buy it~! Was this review helpful?
