I dont think adults will like it, teenagers will like it too. Its got good loud songs like vertigo, easy ones like city of blinding lights, and medium one like original of the species. If you buy this CD you will not be disappointed, well i hope you wont. Was this review helpful? I love this album, truely one of my favorite U2 albums ever. I mean combined with ATYCLB, there two greastest hits album, and HTDAAB, they are truely an unstoppable force or richeous rock music. Great lyrics, great beats, and an all around tremendous album, that still pleases me everytime I listen to it. I can only imagine what they will do for there next album? Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 9/2/2005A review of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb [International standard] by Jessica_Leigh_Neeb I would've never considered myslef a U2 fan until this album hit stores. Sure, I'd heard a few of their other songs and they were ok, but nothing like this. When I first the iPod commercial I was like, "Who sings that song?" It absolutely blew me away. After all the airplay Vertigo got I can say that it got a bit tiring, but the rest of the songs on the album filled in for that, with the exception of Miracle Drug. Sometimes You Cant Make it on Your Own is on of the greatest songs ever written and with Bono singing it made it even better. Crumbs From Your Table is a great song with such a great kick and Yahweh has a great message. Not only does U2 make great music, but Bono also makes a difference in the world with his work against poverty in Africa. What's not to love? Was this review helpful? A Man and a Woman is the only disappointment on this album. I just skip past it and enjoy the rest of this album. What an album it is! From the dazzling opener Vertigo to the closing Fast cars, the whole album is top notch stuff. There is something about this album that I can't quite put my finger on. How is it so damn good and filled with such brilliant songs from a band that have been going together as a 4-piece since the end of the 1970's? That's the magic of U2. They're still as good as they ever were. How many of you can sing a song off REM's latest album "Leaving New York?" REM may sell out shows but they rely on their older material to sell shows. I'm not singling them out in particular, I think their a brilliant band. I'm just using them as an example. U2 sell out stadiums across
America and Europe and I'm pretty sure everyone of them knows Vertigo or City of Blinding Lights. Their new stuff is just as good as the older material and people come to see Vertigo just as much as they come to see a song over 20 years old such as Pride or I Will Follow. Fair play to you if you've got this far through this long-winded pile of garbage. My favourite songs are Vertigo (which I couldn't believe was U2 the 1st time I heard it), City, Sometimes, One Step Closer and Yahweh. I like Yahweh but I prefer the live version they did in Dublin which was without the rhythm backing and was filled with so much emotion, it nearly moved me to tears. Hope they do two DVD's like what they did for the Elevation tour i.e. Vertigo, live in Boston and U2 go home, Vertigo live in Dublin. I wait in hope... Was this review helpful? This song has reconnected me to the single most important part of who I am "My Faith in God"
Thank You Bono & The Boys......I Love Your music for this reason;
it helps me to remember what's really important in this life .....one another. Was this review helpful? In a world where 95% of music is absolute crap, U2 have shown every other act out there how it is done. Vertigo is a masterpiece. I have never heard anything like it. The first time I saw that IPOD commercial, I just about died, it was shocking to hear such quality music when you are so used to hearing the crappy rap, r&b, and shitty rock (green day, etc.). U2 has shown that they are the biggest and they are the best. How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb mixes loud, fast, fun (Vertigo, All Because of You, etc.) with quiet, slow, peaceful music (Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own, One Step Closer, etc.) that creates the perfect balanced CD. This is not only U2's best album, it is the best album ever created. I can't even put into words what a masterpiece this is. Go buy it now! Was this review helpful? Sign In 5 out of 6 users found this helpful Posted: 5/15/2005A review of How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb [International standard] by liamhsart1 This album is up there with some of their best work and that says a lot given their 25 years of making great music. Every song is excellent.
The reason this album is so great is that U2 could not have made it any sooner: with War U2 needed to prove they were stars, with the Jashua Tree they needed to prove they were the best band in the world, with Rattle and Hum they wanted to prove they could take on America with American music, with Achtung Baby they needed to prove that they could survive the musical transitions of the 90's, and finally with ATYCLB U2 needed to show us all that they were still relevant after 20 years. HTDAAB, however, comes from a musically mature band that has nothing to prove. The songs are great because there is no concern (possibly excluding Vertigo) for writing a "hit." If the songs on this album are considered hits it's because our current conception of what a hit is and is not coincides with U2's musical sensabilities...or maybe it's that their musical sensabilities define the standard.
As far as the criticism regarding Bono's blatent references to Christianity: he writes and sings from the heart and this is what seperates him (especiall live) from the majority of artists on MTV who either (A) don't even write their own lyrics or (B) whose sole lyrical intent is to come up with something popular, shocking or different simply for the sake of being different.
Buy this album. Don't pirate it. It's worth every penny. Was this review helpful? Sign In |
