Never has there been 4 more talented musicians in one band. Tommy is an awesome concept album. Contrary to popular belief, its not their best, but any Who album is awesome. No one seems to realize how hard and challenging it is to write a whole score around a plot. Townshend seems to do this effortlessly and no one else since has been able to come even close to matching his genious. tommy is innovative and revolutionary, and Townshend deserves much more credit than he ever receives. He is up with LennonMcCartney and JaggerRichards, if not better. Was this review helpful? Apart from some songs which could have been left out (Fiddle About, Extra), most of the album's songs make essential rock'n' roll listening. Underture is just incredible, I don't think I've ever heard drumming like Keith Moon's and I don't think I ever will. Roger's vocals are superb along with John's bass playing. And how did Pete Townsend get so much out of one guitar? Was this review helpful? There beautiful harmony of music created an incredible album that takes you on a journey through the life of Tommy and his struggle. Through the music, you feel his Triumph over his handicaps. Absolutely recommended to any person who appreciates good music. Was this review helpful? I think this is the greatest piece of rock and roll music ever written. Was this review helpful? My 14-year-old son gave my the CD for Christmas, although he has yet to sit through it so I can explain the plot. I especially like the Overture because it still moves me, and I still dislike Uncle Ernie because he is such a perverted clown. I recommend it for one of those lonely road trips (all you baby boomers) and for the rest of you, figure it out. Was this review helpful? It is the expression of Townsends brilliant song writing and paint a vivid picture for the imagination. Has gone down in rock and roll history where it will remain. Was this review helpful?
