Just when they thought that The Doors couldnt get any better, they came out with Morrison Hotel which blew all the critics out of the water.I think that there is alot of Blues influence in this album, which makes the album very different from the previous albums. Roadhouse Blues, Peace Frog, Waiting For The Sun and Maggie McGill are a just a few of my favorite songs by The Doors. I love their music. I truly think that The Doors are the greatest American Rock and Roll band ever to hit the stage. Was this review helpful? The Doors were back, Rock 'n' Roll style. It is the best rocker on the album, but others are just as good like You Make Me Real, Peace Frog, Ship of Fools and Maggie McGill. What also hits you (but not as hard) is the gentle, haunting blues like Waiting for the Sun, Blue Sunday and Indian Summer. Still can't decide which is the best: their first, their last or this one. It's best if you enjoy all three of them as a whole. Was this review helpful? Jim Morrison was as mortal as any one of us, but it was what he did with his mortality that has made him immortal as long as there are people that can be witness to his words, the music of the original ";DOORS"; will live on and inspire maybe those of us that can actually for an instance be able to take hold of maybe even one thought that was part of the influence for any of the songs that he made. I DO NOT believe that The Doors can be reproduced and am quite apalled that they would do this. Jim will always be Jim, there is nothing that can be further given, nor taken away for that matter from what he represented, stood for and accomplished throughout his journey on this planet. Just balls out high amp rock and roll, with Jims ballads thrown in to break up the pace and tone of the album. Love songs to Pam are mixed with disturbing images of chaos and mayhem, from the triumphant screaming decision to self destruct at the peak of ";Roadhouse Blues";, to the tender declarations of ";Blue Sunday";. While bands like Pink Floyd and the Grateful Dead affect the listener from the shoulders up, the Doors definitely work from the waist down. This album is a prime example of that. Buy the debut album first, then this one. Highly recommended Was this review helpful? This is their best album since Strange days. The bluesy Roadhouse Blues is a great song if you wanna take a nice summer day drive. This album shows the growth in the Doors since their first album, Jim's voice is very strong and the band as a whole is very together. Popular songs from this album include: Roadhouse Blues, and Peace Frog. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-7 of 7 Per Page |
