Stone Temple Pilots come back again with the CD Purple. While not as powerful or moving as Core, Purple is still a great CD. Interstate Love Song is a wonderful song and probably my favorite from this album. Just a great CD overall but if your looking for the true Stone Temple Pilots ride go with Core.

STP did the world a favor when they wrote this album. Some of the greatest rock songs ever written, in my opinion. This band might have received bad reviews from critics and the like, but I honestly dont think they are valid. How can you compare the Stone Temple Pilots to the mainstream manufactured pop that they call music? The beauty of life in the modern world, even through suffering, is wrought in the mix of Scotts incredible vocals and the DeLeo brothers impeccable melodies. Of course, without the drummer, Eric Kretz, there would be no beats and rhythms. An absolute concrete album. My personal favorite song is Still Remains because it is so emotional and heartfelt, with deep meaning. Theres still nothing like cranking this album up and being prepped for a true experience by hearing the opening song, Meatplow. If you havent bought this album, buy it. And if you dont like it, I suspect you do not know how to appreciate truly good music. Five stars.

As I stated under the "Core"Review-Critics are STUPID.Sophmore slump???Hell no.This album is just as good as Core. That is what I love about STP,every album has a different format from the others.Listen to the first 4 STP albums and you can hear it.Scott Weiland is excellent as usual and the guitars sound great.Another one of my favorite of all-time CDs because it was one that I grew up listening to in 1994 and still listen from song 1 to the end to this day. Do yourself a favor and buy the first 4 STP albums. To the guy that wrote that STP is better than most of the crap playing today-THANK YOU.You hit the nail on the head and had the guts to state why album sales are down so much these days. They just don't make them like they use to.

Quite the opposite of the sophomore slump; the recognition they finally got in the mid-90's was long overdue. MTV used a sample of the beginning of "Lounge Fly" for their hourly news. "Vasoline" had a racy video with a "climactic" ending, that was later altered. The entire album is giant steps forward from the ideology behind their debut two years earlier, which wasn't widely accepted. Not enough can be said about it. And no one can deny the humor in the hidden track at the end..."The Second Album...Twelve Gracious Melodies..." done Sinatra-style by STP. What a hoot. Matt Hancock August 21 2005

Let us dispel the accusations of copying Pearl Jam right here and now - Scott Weiland is almost the exact opposite of Eddie Vedder, and Pearl Jam avoids the pop culture that STP indulges in. Weiland was made for the spotlight, Eddie Vedder hates it. STP makes an incredible album here, and it sounds nothing like any other grunge band. If you own a convertible, then do yourself a favor - find yourself a warm June evening, put the top down, and cruise down the highway playing Interstate Love Song....you'll love it.

Once again, a good album, not their best, but I don't think they will EVER beat CORE.. Many songs on this album still get radio airplay. That has to mean something.. Me and my ex used to listen to this album on rainy nights, and snuggle by the fire.. I miss STP....

With it's killer riffs and unmistakable singing and song writing STP purple is one of my all time favorite albums, with mellow tracks such as Pretty Penny, to it's more heavier songs like Meat Plow. In my opinion this album had little or no flaws at all. This band is as close as it gets to 70's style music into the new melinium, it deffently rocks!
