soundgarden have reached the highest peak that only a few have been. superunknown is a power house of vocals, sound, solos, and energy that changes anyone into a feel good, positive thinking mind set, and an masterful blend of chris cornells lyrics and voice, kim thaiyls solos, esspeciallly on black hole sun, and superunknown. fell on black days, kickstand, fresh tendrills, and head down, are other examples of how this band is without a doubt one of the greatest bands of all time and a band that deserves more honor, airtime, and recognition. chris cornell, kim thaiyl, ben shepperd, and matt cameren, i would just like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your inspiration ,fell good songs even though thats not the songs intentions, and i hope you decide to reunite and wish you all the best of luck in all your doing with audioslave and other projects, youll always be fking awsome band, hope i can be like you one day.

This album should speak for itself, but I will attempt to speak for it. One of the greatest rock albums ever written. Almost every song is a five star knockout. With deep, meaningful lyrics and a sound completed by adding speedy riffs to emotional lead and screaming vocals, this album is sure to please. A timeless treasure for all things rock. Go out and buy this one, you will probably recognize at least one song. And you will most likely discover a gallery of brilliance in the process. Five stars.

I don't know what the other dude's problem is. He's allegedly an STP - Pearl Jam fan, and the only song he likes is the biggest pop song on the album. Go figure... This album is a masterpiece, as anyone who actually likes Soundgarden will tell you. The arrangements are mesmorizing, very Zepplin-esque in areas. A few songs are out of place, like Spoonman, but are still decent. Very moody album, songs like Limo Wreck and Fell On Black Days are amazing. Overall, I'd say it's Soundgarden at their finest hour. Those who like Audioslave should give this a spin, as Soundgarden is the better of two Chris Cornell bands.

There is one good tune on this CD "Black Hole Sun", everything else is pure garbage. Don't waste your money on this CD. Buy the single if you must. Try STP or Pearl Jam for the real deal.

A follow-up to 1991's "Badmotorfinger," the 1994 release "Superunknown" is exemplary of the way bands become wiser, more complex. Chris Cornell's vocals are strong here, and the rest of the band shines as well. They've always been complicated in their time signatures; "My Wave" is an expansion on that notion. Radio heard several tracks off this album, and justifiably so. It's an album that will take a few listens to truly appreciate, but it is nonetheless excellent. The craftsmanship is undeniable. i really do like this record, but i prefer badmotorfinger. here, things sound just a bit too polished for my liking...i'll admit it could also just be that i'd listened to badmotorfinger 100's of times before this one came out. either way, this is still a very good record. 4th of july, limo wreck, and black hole sun are the stand out tracks. i do not like head down or half in the slightest, though. ben shepherd is an amazing bass player, but i just don't care for the man's voice.

I moved up here to Seattle in 1996, so I missed most of the so called "grunge" rock music being written & recorded up here, as the movement had pretty much run it's course by then. In truth, I had gotten tired of hearing the dark, angst ridden sounds coming from my radio. After hearing this album, I realize what an important period of time that was, music wise, and what I missed. This album's sound is very heavy, yet each song has a really interesting musical hook to it. They somehow managed to take very heavy & intense subjects, and write songs about them that are both very metallic & listenable at the same time. Looking back, after listening to this amazing 11 year old album, I now realize what a jewel Soundgarden was, and it makes me wish they were still together, writing songs & playing music like this right now. This is an important album, and is worth buying.

Soundgarden was without a doubt one of the greatest rock bands of all time, and Superunknown is their chef d'oeuvre. Chris Cornell's ranged and crystal clear voice lends itself well to the sometimes angsty, sometimes psychedelic, sometimes lamenting style of Soundgarden's music. Soundgarden is one of those rare bands that has both excellent instrumentals and lyrics. Superunknown contains Soundgarden's greatest-ever hit, "Black Hole Sun", an eerie ballad on the end of the world. It also contains other Soundgarden classics like the unusual "Spoonman", FM radio staple "Fell On Black Days", and "Superunknown", for which the album is titled. It also contains what I consider to be Soundgarden's best song ever, the spirited and unique "The Day I Tried to Live". That they broke up is a shame, although Cornell's solo album was also excellent, and Audioslave is an incredible band as well. Definitely worth purchasing.

What makes a good rock band? Good musicians, great writing, originality and flexible vocals. This band was the epitome of all that. I ached when they broke up.<br> Half of the songs received plenty of radio airplay as they deserved to. The song &quot;Superunknown&quot; just tugs on my soul. What a great song!! It didn't even make the mainstream. &quot;Spoonman&quot; was the song that turned me on to the band. Cornell's voice is simply incredible. I didn't like &quot;Half&quot; I skip it all the time because it grates on my nerves. The whole rest of the album is worth listening to. If you like Soundgarden it is a must have

Superunknown was by far Soundgarden's most popular album and comsidered their best my most critics and musicians alike. After Superunknown was released, there would only be one more grunge album to actually make it big in the mainstream; that would be Frogstomp by Silverchair. This album exemplifies the ennui aspect of grunge with it's ode de self destruction, &quot;Black hole sun.&quot; Though it wasn't the biggest success of the grunge movement, it was probably one of the most important albums of the 90's; it sits up there in the top three along with Nevermind (of course) and Siamese dream.
