This album is as close to perfection as any in the history of Rock Music. Getty and the boys are on top of their game here and if feels Oh So Good. The music, the lyrics, the feeling of this album are all incredible. It is an absolutely Moving Album. One minor note while everyone knows that Neal Peart and Getty Lee are the two of the best drummers and bassists (respectively), however, this album features a flawless Alex Lifeson. AL is an underrated guitarist (and my personal favorite of all time). Just listen to the first 30 seconds of Red Barchetta for a sample of his technique. Simply one of the best. The cd that followed, Signals, went for a more new wave, synthesiser sound. And Rush really never recovered.
If you are looking for a first Rush cd, you cant go wrong here. Every song on here is a classic topped off by the immortal Tom Sawyer. Was this review helpful? Most rolled with these Canadian Rockers, like the hundreds of fans around me at Wings Stadium in Kalamazoo.
Now considered a celebrated collection of rock anthems, Moving Pictures tracks are wildly apreciated in staduims around the globe. YYZ, Tom Sawyer and Limelight are some of the most easily recognizable RUSH songs to even the casual listener.
Moving Pictures moves the stake further out in front. If Susan Luci isn't a rush fan, I don't know who is. Was this review helpful? Rythyms and methodies are complex and deep and the lyrics are just as smart. All of Rush's work is good, but this is Rush at it's very best. Was this review helpful? The fact that I think that this is the best music ever recorded, dont change the fact that black is black. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 12/28/2002A review of Moving Pictures by ChrisLightbrin This album is considered by most to be Rush's best work to date. The album cover is amazing. First, you have moving men MOVING the pictures. Then you have spectators crying because the pictures are so MOVING. And on the back there is a camera crew filming a MOVING picture of the whole scene. This play on words was obviously the brain child of drummer and lyricist, Neil Peart. This album was the home of one of Rush's best known songs, Tom Sawyer. A must buy for any Rush collection. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-11 of 11 Per Page |
