Alison Krauss' voice is just so lovely and it nicely blends with Robert Plant's voice. I hope they record more albums together! She really has the sweetest voice, and it's so well complimented by Plant's voice (which I will say I was surprised by, because I expected his usual, more frenetic vocals), that the album hits home with every song. I've been playing it non-stop ever since I bought it too - like some of the other reviewers out there. Wallyinwv (go Mountaineers!), give it another listen - I think it'll grow on you. Alison Krauss should have stayed away from this has been rocker. Not one song here worth a second listen. I would not buy this CD. I wouldn't even accept a free copy of this trash. Alison...get back to your roots!!! Was this review helpful? Does anyone in SoCal get it yet?? Wonder why country music got popular? Gram & Emmylou is nothing new, but just because it was right 40 years ago doesn't mean it's not right now. It is. And in case you forgot, LedZep was a roots experiment, with mandolins, acoustic guitar, pedal steel....
This is more interesting than Britney's custody battle or who killed Biggie. My band is on myspace fyi. Was this review helpful? Well, I expected a good album but I was wrong, it's a spectacular recording. With talent of this caliber, you just hope that the chemistry is there also, happily it is. Plant and Krauss are both courageous maverick artist's, in that they never play it safe, and they have an (particularly Plant) insatiable curiosity and love for all manner of music. Plant, though forever linked to the mighty Led Zeppelin, the greatest pure rock band that ever stepped on a stage, has never tired in his search for new musical worlds to conquer. This is truly one of the best albums to come along in many moons. I have listened to it a couple of dozen times and it keeps sounding better with each spin. I highly recommend it. Makes the new Carrie Underwood release look good. Was this review helpful? The first reviewer is right these two voices are "mesmerizing" together and worth the wait to hear this dynamic duo. Who would have thunk it? Its really great to see artists spread their wings and allow us to experience their versatility. A definite five star CD. Was this review helpful? The meld of Robert Plant and Allison Krauss' voices is mesmerizing. Listing to these songs, especially "Killing the Blues", Please Read the Letter" and "Nothin" speak to my soul. This album is a must have for anyone who appreciates the talent of either artist. Who else but Robert Plant and Allison Krauss could have pulled this off? Was this review helpful?
