Posted: 6/2/2006A review of Dreamland by walshseant1
I bought this album after by chance catching Robert Plant and Strange Sensation on Austin City Limits television program. The song that stopped me dead in my tracks was not any Led Zeppelin reinterpretation, of which there were many and I indeed enjoyed. Song To The Siren is the song. Both the Austin City Limits concert version and this album pleased me uniquely and greatly. It enticed me to listen to the other songs on Dreamland. I like very much Plants understated singing style and the moody textures Strange Sensations music imparts throughout the album. It is a mature beautiful and understated style that coincidentally covers other peoples songs, none of which are Led Zeppelins, and the moods range from terror to resignation. Its heavy in a Robert Plant and Strange Sensation sort of way, not a Led Zeppelin sort of way.

It wouldn't be fair to compare Robert's solo work to the phenomenon known as Led Zeppelin; having said that, I think Dreamland is Robert Plant's best solo album to date. It has heart and soul, and if you're addicted to his beautiful voice as I am, you will be soothed as never before. I have loved Led Zep since I was a 9-year-old in '69, and have found in Dreamland the emotion and essence that made the Zep songs so moving and unforgettable. Over 30 years and you still haven't let me down, Robert. Love you.
