All the songs are nicely done, with gorgeus lyrics that people can relate to. Its very different than anything ND has done before, or after, with Rock Steady. The songs have a dark and depressive sound to them, but the whole album is not at all depressive - it really cheers you up from the bad mood and lot of songs make you dance and think about how life great is. My all-time favorite ND song comes from this album - Artificial Sweetner, but I also like Marry Me, Home Now, Dark Blue and four main hits (Ex-Girlfriend, Simple Kind Of Life, Bathwater and New). Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful More Mature Than Tragic KingdomPosted: 6/20/2005A review of Return Of Saturn by Jeramottsi Even though I go with most people and prefer Tragic Kingdom, I think Return Of Saturn is No Doubt's most real album. It is better written than Tragic Kingdom and has a slighty more Rock sound. Gwen really was exposed and put true feelings into a lot of the songs, especially in Simple Kind Of Life, and it's beautiful video. My favourite song of this album is New. The lyrics are wonderful and a great sound to it. Bathwater is so catchy and the lyrics are very tongue and cheek, one of No Doubt's greatest. Ex-Girlfriend showed No Doubt niche, with a Rock, Pop and New Wave influence. There are other great songs on this album that could have been singles, such as, Magic's In The Makeup, Artificial Sweetener and Comforting Lie. Not as upbeat as Tragic Kingdom and I think why most people prefer Tragic Kingdom. This album is so under-rated and worth a buy.

The songs are really good because they all sound different. The beats are original and you will for sure get hooked. The lyrics are either fun, serious, make you think, or will get you pumped! I say, this is No Doubts' best work. Some of the best songs are: "Magic's in the makeup", "Bathwater", "New", and "Ex-girlfriend". They are original, and great. I highly reccomend this cd to everyone. It was well worth the 2 and a half year wait for this one. Was this review helpful? Return of Saturn did all that and more. With it's unique, heavy sound talking about themesa of love, loss,and discovering who you are, they reached me on a much more emotional level. My favorite songs on this album are Marry Me, Ex Girlfriend, and Artificial Sweetner. I like all the songs on this album and would recomend it to anyone who likes good music. Was this review helpful? The lyrics just spoke to me when I listened to the C.D for the first time. I just broke up with my boyfriend and it made me feel better knowing that Gwen Stefani and a lot of other females i'm sure, have been through the same thing. Gwen really puts her feelings out there on this one. The songs are really deep & heartfelt. ";Simple kind of life "; is my favorite along with ";Bathwater";.
