R.I.P kurt cobian, you will always be missed, some thing in the way Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful this is seriously one of the greatest albums ever made. its success was sudden and totally unexpected(even to nirvana) it is the album that killed hair metal for good and changed the course of rock and roll forever. but all mythology aside, whats really important is the musc and nirvana strikes gold with the perfect blend of grinding guitars, pop melodies, and pure emotion. every song on this album is amazing and wickedly catchy. this is nirvana at their best and i think nevermind should be in everyones musical collection. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 1 users found this helpful Some people may have heralded this album as the ushering in of the grunge music era, but if you really listen to it, its GARBAGE!! The chords were sampled from other artists and all they did was mask it with overtones and yelling. People were just vulnerable enough to look for (and need) a change in the early 1990s...and although Rock did need one at the time, this was the WRONG turn. I could have heard the same garbage from other garage bands down the street...they were just lucky enough to get a contract and being at the right place at the right time. Nevertheless, though, its awful! Was this review helpful? Although Bleach came out before this, Nevermind is the one that most people first remember them by, mainly of course due to airplay. Kurt Cobain tragically ended his life too soon, mainly due to his inner turmoil and the obvious rage against unwanted stardom and success, which in part is ironic. Most true musicians, like Kurt Cobain, want their sound to be heard, but sometimes it comes with a cost. His inward pain was always near the surface in every song he did, which makes even more tragic that his fame came at the expense of despair, which if it were not for the pain who knows how he would have been remembered or what if any kind of music he would have done. I do not think he was some kind of rock god, but he was extremely important in his influence (and those of his band mates) on the entire music scene then and now. As Nick Drake one said Sometimes the darkness can bring the brightest light. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful This is without a doubt the best album to come from the 90s. It has signature guitar riffs that are easily recognised as a Kurt Cobain riff. Covers of the songs on this album can NEVER be played how Nirvana played them because this band is that distinct. When watching a list of the top 40 albums in the last 30 years this topped the list. This album paved the way for many bands to come such as Foo Fighters, Green Day, Nickelback, Queens of the Stoneage, Billy Talent, and any other punk of alternative group that has come along. Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful ppl call this their best cd, and ppl call this their worst cd, i think its neither, its just another cd that showcases nirvanas never ending styles of music. Like Kurt said they were the bay city rollers being raped by black sabath, and that tells you right there, pop and melody, mixed with sludge heavy music.....If you listen to bleach it was made to sound heavy cause Kurt said it had to sound that way to get cred in the underground, cause about 4 or 5 of the songs on this cd were around at the time of bleach, and he wanted this album to be poppy to reach to more ppl, and thats the thing, if u actually know anything about kurt is that he loved pop music and heavy music, he loved selling records but hated the unwanted attention, no matter how many interviews that he said he didnt care about how many cds they sell, listen to interviews before nevermind and he said many times, he would love to sell millions...but on to the record, its amazing, even though its a bit glossy over all, just like every other cd its amazing, but its amazing for different reasons than the other nirvana cds. so everyone can shutup about what cd is the best Was this review helpful?
