Date ![]() Helpful Rating 0 out of 0 users found this helpful this album is easily the greatest album of all time in my opinion. Each track is perfect. Beats created from some of the best producers of the time along with nas brilliant lyrical skill aswell as his great story telling is the recipe. This is all you need! great album Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 7/11/2006A review of Illmatic by blastmaster0 While no doubt this was a classic album. Its not even close to being the best Hip Hop album of all time(check krs one return of the boom bap, freddie foxxx industry shakedown, ganstar moment of truth, A tribe called quest midnight marauders, redman there iz a darkside or whatever the name of that album was, etc etc..). The beats basically make this album what it is not taking away from nass lyrical skills. After the realease of this classic album nas sold out and has shown me no reason to believe that he will ever develope into the rapper he could have been if he chose not to go that rout. He has even admit to as much in several interviews saying that he got caught up in the money. This album is definately worth checking out but dont get disappointed if its not what others make it out to be. Was this review helpful? His stunning yet powerful arsenal of lyrics just follows the movement and momentum of hip-hop through and through. Was this review helpful? For Nas, Common, Mos Def, Talib Kwali, and Fugee fans, this is most definately a must have. People who are serious in Rap and Hiphop like myself, this is a great CD to listen to and up your skillz by listenin to his constant flow, great wordplay, and awesome vocabulary. Its hard to believe this guy dropped out of ninth grade..definately one-of-a-kind. Illmatic gets two thums up and five stars from me...1
-pZ- Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Nas is without a doubt is one of the most unforgettable figures in music history. Even though it had been over a decade since the birth of hip-hop to 1994, Nas had unarguably redefined hip-hop into what it is today. And he did it with his the album (his first) ILLMATIC. He brought a whole new meaning to the word revolutionary. He till this day is still leader of the revolutionary group of hip-hop (old&new)like...Erykah Badu, Talib Kwali, Common, Mos Def, The Roots, Slum Village, Dilated Peoples, The Fugees and many others. Many artists owe him limitless praise for changing the beat, melody and heart of one of music's greatest genres. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful this album is clearly one of if not the best albums ever created. anyone who says anything hasnt listened to this album in its entirety. this album just shows that nas is a lyrical master and speaks the truth with every word. The fast paced lyrical flow over DJ Premier's "N.Y State Of Mind" "Halftime" and "Represent" are the strongest most proudest moments of the 10 track bible but also deliver the equally entertaining "One Love" in which nas writes a letter to one of his friends in lockup
at the time of this being written I am 11 years beyond its original release date and yet its very blueprint can be seen on latter day artists. So when cruising the isle's pondering what your selection should be for a good spin or two look no further than Illmatic Was this review helpful? I definetly believe this album is a classic. If any1 wants to get up on Nas then I would recommend them to listen to Illmatic be4 anything else. He's one of the few rappers who remained real to their major fan base and not cause of the sales. I gotta give the man his props for that one. The WHOLE album is a green light, u can listen 2 every song on the album, which is a rariety in the biz. Was this review helpful? Sign In |
