Jagger uses guest musicians to great effect on this his third, and best, solo effort. Lenny Kravitz guests on "Use Me Up", a cover of Bobby "Blue" Bland's '70s classic. In Jagger's hands, it becomes a clavinet-based slow funk reminiscent of Stevie Wonder's early '70s material.

Elsewhere, Jagger continues to mine the dance vein, with the excellent "Sweet Thing" a throwback to "Miss You" or "Dance Part One" from the Stones wayward late '70s period.

Where the album fails to convince is on the awful "Handsome Molly" a faux-celtic workout best left in the vaults. Not even the most ardent completist needs a copy of this tune.

He redeems this mis-step with the great "Don't Tear Me Up" a mid-tempo ballad which highlights the oft-overlooked fact that Jagger is the best rock and roll vocalist in the business.

Overall a great effort that easily eclipses all Stones' output since Undercover as well as surpassing their solo efforts.

Well done, Sir Mick.
