Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Turning PointPosted: 7/16/2006A review of Turning Point by girlzman4eva Mann, i was a fan of Mario from the beginning, with his first album, with hits like, Just a friend, Cmon, and Braid my hair, i knew he was gonna be something special. And he lived up 2 expectations when he came back in 2004 with 1 of the greatest songs ive ever heard with Let Me Love You, i mean that is something i could relate 2, with that i purchased the album and i fell in love with his second single, How Could You. I mean i really love this album and his music. Its good 2 know that both of my favourite artist could be on a songs and i got that on the track, 18 which was featuring Cassidy. Honestly, 2 me he has an amazing singing voice that keeps getting better and better all the time and thats what makes a singer a singer.Big up ta Mario i got ya back all d way dawg, i sing 2 so i jus hope i get the chance 2 meet u some day and work with u on a track. I only saw the videos for Just a Friend and Braid my Hair. I thought they were cute for younger audiences but never paid much attention. When Let Me Love You came out I was amazed by his new look and overwhelmed by how much he had matured vocally. I recently saw him live in Tampa on the Destiny Fulfilled tour and he was hot. I almost forgot who the headliners were. He had the crowd rocking the entire time he was on the stage.
The entire Turning Point blew my mind when I finally listened to the whole cd. There is someting about each and every song that grabs my attention. Of course some songs are better than others (let me love you, how could you, directions, and my favorite Like Me Real Hard). He really matured and I am extremely anxious to see what he does next. He is my new favorite male R&B artist (totally replacing Usher) because of the passion he expresses through his vocals. He doesn't seem like just another singer. He obviously loves what he is doing and does it very well. Big Ups to his mom,Shawntia, and the city of Baltimore for raising a star.
Too bad I'm 4 years older than him or I'd be hunting him down :)

Now, after listening to it and comparing it with other R and B, I have to admit the cd was a letdown. However, download the first 6 tracks and number 10. Those are the good tracks. The lyrics do need some work, and Mario only wrote a few songs himself. He's also too comercial. Usher is the same way. He talks about #$%&ing bitches and either him cheating on his girl or his girl playing him. When are artists going to talk about either playing chicks, but not in a relationship, or love instead of chicks and spinners? Mario doesn't talk about cars on this, thank God. However, do download the first 6 and number 10.
Other R and B recommendations are the explicit version of Trouble by Akon. LLoyd's Southside might be a good one. I might buy that one. Was this review helpful?
