The music on her new album takes me back. It is great to hear some "real" country music again. It is too bad that America has gotten away from the roots of country. Was this review helpful? It is Loretta Lynn with the help of Mr. White. You do the math. There aren't many females in any genre who have what Loretta has....fill in the blanks. She is still the deal. Was this review helpful? From amazing tracks such as Portland Oregon & Story of My Life to more classic Lynn tunes like Womens Prison and Miss Being Mrs, LL and the Stripes are a powerful emotional combination. Cheers. Put this disk and then skip to track #2 and ask yourself,"Did I grab the wrong disk? This sure doesn't sound like Loretta." It sounds like the Doors and Dick Dale tripping together. Then you hear Loretta sing, "Portland Oregon and a sloe gin fizz/ If that ain't love then tell me what is..." It's a awesome song! You can hear Jack White of the White Stripes throughout and I love it, but this is still Loretta's album and there are several classics to remind you of that like Trouble on the Line and Family tree. If you like old school country (Willie, Walon, Hank, Dolly, Loretta) you'll like this album. If you like old school country and great rock and roll music, you'll play it over and over again. I do.
