After a spotty decade in the 90s, Iron Maiden and specifically H and Bruce Dickinson are officially back. After a mediocre effort with Brave New World and a slightly better Dance of Death, A Matter of Life and Death grabs you from the opening note. The entire album has a smooth yet powerful flow from track to track. The music is masterfully supported by some of the best lyrical content of their long and elustrious career as one of Metals premiere bands. Each song covers a different aspect of war such as points of view in Different World, religious zealotry in For the Greater Good of God, blind courage in the face of overwhelming odds in The Longest Day, the traditional honour of soldiers in These Colours Dont Run and mans desire to invent a better weapon in Brighter Than a Thousand Suns. Will be viewed as their best offering since Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Only downside might be the length of each song which range from 418 to 924. 7 of the 10 tracks come in at 650 or more but thats Iron Maiden. A must buy for any fan of old-school or current Metal. Simply stupendous!
