This album really captures the greatness of their songs with the best production. American Beauty has the best 'folk' feel, and some really amazing songs. As a small side note, I think Bobby's tones are at his best during this period (I'm not a big fan of the chorused, jangly guitar tone he carried in the 80's and 90's).

I really dig the song Friend of the Devil, although this album version is a little faster and has a little less feel than some of the live recordings I've heard. Sugar Magnolia is a great song, and this version is a great recording (Bobby's tone rocks on this track). And I think Truckin' is just a nicely crafted tune! Was this review helpful?
