After the colossus that was ATMP, it was very hard for any Harrison album to deserve the recognition when due. 33 & 1/3 is one of these.

Sure it didn't send the world on fire but it was nice to hear George "get into the groove"

Songs like "Crackerbox Palace", "This Song" were among the most catchiest and enjoyable of his 70's output. Their videos were equally as appealing and humourous.

They are my personal highlights. "Pure Smokey" and "Learning How To Love You" are also great. The cover "True Love", no, wasn't it tr-ue-ue-ue-ue love! was a nice touch.

One of his most enjoyable albums, moreso than Dark Horse and Extra Texture which you need to get into the mood to enjoy those records.

33 & 1/3 is easy listening and fun

Aunque no es su mejor trabajo, este disco contiene maravillosas canciones llenas de armonía, como siempre, cargadas de sensibilidad, lirismo y buenas letras.

For some reason, this is one of my all-time favorite albums. Every track has something to recommend it. GH was in the zone. Melodically, harmonically, and rhythmically, the songs all have interest, and the production is beautiful. ";Baby Don't You Cry For Me"; is a simple groove (the middle eight is weak, though) that remains one of GH's catchiest. ";Pure Smokey"; is a tribute to Smokey Robinson with the hook ";I wanna thank you Lord for giving us Pure Smokey"; -- the archetypical fan statement of appreciation, and exactly parallel to how I felt as a teenager about the Beatles (it was nice to hear a Beatle -- a Fab -- express the same feeling about another artist -- very humble). ";Beautiful Girl"; is a great love song (though again the middle is a bit forced) with very interesting meter-shifts. ";See Yourslef"; is a perfect song for young people to hear, to remember that judgment works both ways and that in the end we are all the judges of ourselves. ";Learning How to Love You"; shows GH's mastery of interesting and innovative chord structures, and has a beautiful melody perfectly suited to GH's voice. The musicianship -- especially the keyboards -- on all the songs is excellent -- GH had a lot of great musician friends. Also, the album jacket itself (except the somewhat jarring cover) is very attractively designed (a fact probably lost in translation to CD). This album contributed some happiness to my youth, and I recommend learning how to love it.
