i love this record. it's nearly perfect and probably the best in the canon of the foo fighters. dave grohl expresses the pain over his divorce and the stress due to the departure of some bandmates quite well. i don't think there is really a bad thing that can be said about this album.

I am admittedly a Foo Fighters fan. I bought this CD the day it came out back in 1997 and was listening to it today, July 14, 2005 and it still sounds fresh and rocks with some of the best albums I can think of. Call me a blasphemer but certainly Dave Grohl had more to do with the great sound and success of Nirvana that he is given credit for. Certainly one of the BEST rock drummers of the day with excellent songwriting credentials to match as evidenced by "The Colour and The Shape." From the opening to the end there isn't a weak track in the bunch, especially "Everlong," the pseudo-country twang of "See you" and the power of "Monkey Wrench" all showcasing one of rocks best bands playing.

Foo Fighters are one of my favorite bands, and this is possibly my favorite album of theirs. In most of this album (except Doll and part of Up in Arms) it was Dave Grohl on drums and vocals, and he rocks. My favorite tracks areMonkey Wrench, Wind up, My Hero, and possibly my favorite FF song Everlong. This is just an awesome album, and if you are reading this review to decide whether to buy this album or not I would definitely recommend getting it

If I were gay, which I'm not, I'd go for Grohl any day. If it were possible, meaning I'm still not gay, I'd have babies with him. Any and everything Foo-related has gotten me through so much, and I doubt I would ever find myself without the help of Grohl and the rest of Foo(mainly Davey boy though, cause I'd do him with cheese and potatoes{If I were gay, which I'm not}). I love anything Foo as you may be able to tell(as long as it's not string quarteted), and Leelo, wherever you are.... I want you. If you are interested(and this goes for any woman of the hotts for Grohl, my hero) my aim is: Jword1313..... Well, I love you all and hope to get a response from a future soul-mate-type friend.

If you buy this album on cassette tape, you would like the a-side more than the b-side because the first seven songs are good. It follows the same pattern, there are soft-melancholic intros and fast-poppy choruses. Track 1, 3, 8, 12 are my favourite songs in this album. DEFTONES is still the best though.

hey yeah Foo Fighters rule. it is a fact that as a veteran band they are able to present great vibe and energy. I believe that fresh bands that are walking the Nirvana way can learn from the Foo how to do it. another band that well follow that way is the Mother's Anger with as much great sound and energy that we all loved in the Nirvana area (free downloading at MothersAnger.com). check those cats out.

I'm from latin america, and I 'm inlove with the Foo fighters, specially The colour and the shape it's rare to read all the reviews, and to notice how many have listen to the same album that I ve and almost feel the same way about it it's rare, because I visualize myself in my room listing to everlong , my hero, monkey wrench.... and I know that probable you have been in the same situation And even tough we might never meet, we share that feeling that FF build on us..

dave grohl is using the foo fighters to revisit the sound and shape of music as it was in the seventies.. which is to say it had a rhythme AND a melody that wasn't some sampled hook passed off as creativity. Most of the music out today I could make on my Playstation, let's face it. Give Eminem a guitar and prepare to laugh, know what I'm saying? Dave and the band are musician's musicians and SHAME most of the other acts out there except for AUDIOSLAVE who do just fine shaming themselves. Foo Fighters Rule.

Pretty good CD. I love FF, one of my favorite bands. I like this cd, i just don't "love" it. my fav songs are Blackout, Monkey Wrench, Hero, and Everlong. The reason i don't like this cd as much as One by One is this cd isn't awesome 100% of the time, it has songs i don't like. but i don't hate this cd. if you like Foo, get this.
