This CD ROCKS all around. One of a handfull, I feel, that will become one of my favorites. I hear alot of different influences in their music but they have their own distinct sound and its awesome. Just the right blend of guitar, drums and vocals-blending together to form radically flucuating heavy music but at the same time maintaining a overall balance that flows from one song to another to create a superior listening experience. I will definetely be looking foward to their next CD. So just spend the 10 and buy the album, you will NOT be disappointed. Music Rocks! Was this review helpful? Front to back a great album....I do catch myself skipping "Broken Compass" but im a pretty hard rocker and that song kills the energy I crave. Was this review helpful? Led by lead singer Chris Volz, formerly of Flaw, FBM delivers a star performance here. With Volz using the full extent of his vocal talent and range to compliment the awesome melodies created by the rest of the band. Volz does more actual singing in this work than in either of the Flaw albums, especially their self-titled debut. With this shift, I believe, a more mature music has developed and shows itself in Venting. Hopefully Five Bolt Main will be able to gain more mainstream success than Flaw could, and this album will be the launching pad for more great works to come. Was this review helpful? Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Simply brilliant! The CD starts out with the emotional yet awesome "The Gift". "The Gift" is a song that captures Five.Bolt.Main's ability to work together as a group to produce a finished sound that truly delivers. Next comes "Pathetic", the first single off the CD. Pathetic is a good, heavy song with a tribal-style breakdown containing lines of wisdom. The song following "Pathetic" is "Wait In Line" which is perhaps the worst song on the CD. It is still, however, a better song than most of modern music. The following song is "Broken Compass" an incredibly catchy and powerful ballad you will not be able to get out of your head, nor want to. The next song is "What You Are". The highlight is the opening guitar riff and blisteringly heavy screaming. That is followed up by "Slip", one of my personal favorites. "Slip" is a well rounded song, with the finishing breakdown being one of the best pieces of any song ever written. Next comes "Breathing" which needs to be heard to be fully understood. "Seem To Be FIne" is a ballad, perhaps the best one ever written. It contains an incredibly positive message and is perfect the whole way through. "Life Of Mine" is a great metal song with a catchy chorus and some nice musical risks. "Descending" is a song for fans of Tool with a great bass line and a good focus on vocals. However, the song is rather strange and unconventional and sometimes difficult to listen to. "Made Like This" is a song for drummers and again, lyrically delivers. Finally, "Bid Farewell" features some amazing vocals and a great guitar line. All in all, this is an amazing CD. So much more than you average aggro-metal band. With everything nowadays being blatantly heavy with a lack of meaning, Venting truly delivers. Get it! Was this review helpful? The volcals in this band are done by the former lead singer of Flaw but thats not what makes their music so good, I think the band members are on a higher level than Flaw was on their first album they just mesh, Go pick it up its a must have, im out.
