What i found was a little shocking but very enjoyable..though not quite as hard as the first album. I dont think there was any fat to really cut on The Sickness. That album is just an aggressive kick in the ass. This album does have some hard spots and yes it still is kinda metalish...but it seems to lack the aggressive energy that The Sickness sported in spade. No i dont believe Disturbed SOLD OUT. Do I think maybe they were trying to go for more maturity, yes. Yes they did achieve maturity at a price of energy though. Ive said it before and Ill say it again, 10,000 Fists would have been a MUCH BETTER follow up to The Sickness. If only Fuzz would rejoin Disturbed.....SIGH. I give this album 4 out of 5 stars. A SOLID effort though a departure to what made them Disturbed in the first place. If youve never heard Disturbed before but like Rock-Hard Rock go out and buy this cd you wont be dissapointed. If you have The Sickness and are expecting a replay of The Sickness on Believe then you WILL be dissapointed. Was this review helpful? I turn ot this CD whenever i am mad or any way i feel. I recomend that everyone who has heard of metal or rock should have this. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Well In My Opinion... Not As Great As The Sickness But Still Pretty Damn Good... Songs Like Prayer, Liberate, Mistress and Devour Are Really Great and Disturbed Even Threw In A Slow Soft Calm Song Called Darkness... Alot Of People Stopped Listening To Disturbed Because Of The Song Darkness... They Thought It Was Lame... But It Adds More Emotion To This Cd... Most Of the Time Disturbed Sounds Angry While The Song Darknees Gives Us Some Quiet Time... All In All, This Is A Great CD... Get Out And Buy It Was this review helpful? Sign In 3 out of 4 users found this helpful If you want a band that sounds the exact same every time, then go listen to Linkin Park. Groups that stay relevent (Metallica, Korn) are groups that are constantly changing and refining their sound. That is exactly what Disturbed has done on their second album. The sound is different, but the guitar quality has improved, and they have come closer to the quality of sound that Metallica does. If this group keeps trying to improve itself, we will looking at one of the best ever. Was this review helpful? The Chicago quartet is back with a full head of steam going into "Believe." while it is no "Down With The Sickness" it is a masterpiece all it's own. Disturbed is a bit more seasoned with their sophomore release, all of the band members working like a well oiled machine. This album really shows the virsitility of the band- Going from fist pounding a song like "Liberate" to a melodic masterpiece like "Darkness" shows what a broad pallate the band posses.David Draiman's vocal style is a bit more refined then that of its predecesor, Dan's Guitar work seems to flow seemlessly and the rhythem section of Fuzz and Mike maintain the freamework of the band.
Now, i dont know about you, but i dont want to hear a carbon copy of the same album from the same band, and "Believe" is a great example of change being good.
This is a must have album for anyone that appreciates good music and and a broad spectrum of style! Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 5 users found this helpful Ok, i loved the first disturbed album, "The Sickness." It had everything i liked about rock music: lots of yelling, anger, heavy guitar and drums. Naturally, i assumed after hearing "Liberate" that the second cd would be a continuation of the "sickness" style assault...not hardly. This cd nearly put me to sleep once i got past the first two tracks. The only other semi good song is "intoxication", but it repeats ever line over, and over, and over...you get the idea. Also, draiman has one of the best yelling voices i have ever heard, so why does he sing through almost the whole album? And why aren't any of the songs nearly as catchy as on "the sickness"? I have no idea, but i really would like to know why they chose this direction for their cd. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful I think they tried to do too much evolving in the matter of 2 years. This album is supposed to be more melodic and deeper than their first album. It probably is. I can’t remember hearing any rap at all on this one. Still, trying to make everything harmonic has lead to very repetitious guitar riffs. Most of the songs seem to begin and end the same. The power ballad at the end was done well, and I can see what they were aiming to achieve in the first track “Prayer,” but overall the album seems way too conservative for what they did in the first one. I don’t mean to make constant comparisons, but if THIS were their first album I doubt that they’d be as famous. I did also like “Intoxication,” which was the only reason this album had a parental advisory, but they just pushed too quickly to put out a second album before the creativity had kicked in again. They went from a revolutionary rap metal sound to just plain alternative rock in just 2 years.

Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 2 users found this helpful This is another great Disturbed album. The musicians have gotten better at playing there instruments after being on tour, however they have also lost some of the energy found on the first album.
My favorite songs on this are 'Prayer' and 'Libertate', but those are the only ones I have heard completely. I've only listened to previews as I do not own the album, but I still can tell it's good.
I do agree that 'Darkness' is not a song fitting for Disturbed, though they can still pull it off.
And unlike the other album, this does not use excessive profaninty. In fact 'Liberate' is the only explicit song on the album.
And unlike some heavy-metal bands, most of Disturbeds lyrics really carry a message.

Was this review helpful? Was this review helpful? Sign In 3 out of 3 users found this helpful Posted: 6/22/2003A review of Believe by Shower_with_goats11 This Cd is the best David Draihman shows all his styles of singing from start to finish with the beat and the selection of songs if ur in a sad mood throw on Darkness, happy throw on Prayer, Angry throw on Liberate. The reason some of u Hardcore Disturbed fans like me didnt like Darkness because unlike me u didnt believe that Draihman could have a soft side, but just like the song's Dark Mysterious feeling his soft side is still a Mystery. One more thing before I end how come Corey Taylor of Slipknot can show his soft side in Stone Sour and Slipknot fans will still buy and listen to Stone Sour instead of complaining about it like some of u Disturbed fans. Believe is a Hardcore CD Was this review helpful? Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 4/15/2003A review of Believe by BelieveinDisturbed Way better than the sickness. Sickness is 1 of the best cds i own and still, Believe tops it. Disturbed is the best band in the world and will change rock forever Was this review helpful? Sign In |
