Mark Knopfler is able to showcase his finger picking style, particularly at the end of Tunnel of Love and Skateaway. Too often when Skateaway is played on the radio, DJs will wind up cutting off about the last 15-20 seconds of the song, which has some nice looping lead work. Expresso Love and Solid Rock are not only good riffs, but John Illsleys bass work comes through cleanly. I believe this is the last album that drummer Pick Withers did with the band before leaving.
If youre a Dire Straits fan, I suggest you pick this up. Was this review helpful? One song right after the other is great. "Les Boy's was a little odd, but that's okay. With all the others, I still give the album 5 stars. "Tunnel Of Love," "Romeo & Juliet," "Skateaway," "Expresso Love," were all good songs. I'd continue, but I would mention all the rest of the songs on the album. Ohh, and Roy Bittan from the "E Street Band" joined in on this album to play the keyboards. If you haven't listened to it yet, at least prepare to now: Becuase this album rocks. Romeo and Juliet was played by Mark on Saturday Night Live so it must be one of his favorites. Making Movies made my day.RPB. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-3 of 3 Per Page |
