It was Joe Elliots dream to form a band named Deaf Leopard. In 1977, his dream came true. He met Pete Willis who played guitar. Def Leppard started as Atomic Mass. But, Joe had something else in mind. Def Leppard started as Pete Willis on lead guitar, Rick Savage on bass guitar, Tony Kenning on drums, and Joe Elliot on vocals. In 1978, Steve Clark Joined. Tony left later that year and was replaced by Frank Noon who I believe was fired and replaced by Rick Allen who was 15 years old. In 1979, Def Leppard released their first album Def Leppard EP. In 1980 they went on there first American tour and released On Through the Night. Then in 1981, Mutt Lange became their producer and they released High n Dry. In 1982, after Pete Willis got a drink during the middle of a gig he was fired. Phil Collen replaced him. In 1983, Def Leppard released Pyromania selling 100,000 copies a week for most of 1983 selling over 9,000,000 copies. On New Years Eve of 1984, Def Leppards drummers car overdrove full speed and lost his left arm, but that never stopped him from being a drummer. In 1987 they released Hysteria making that their best selling album selling 12,000,000 copies. In 1991, Steve Clark died after mixing alcohol with pain killers. He was replaced by Vivian Campbell. They released Andrealize 1992. In 1993 they released Retro Acttive and Two Steps Behind appeared on The Last Action Hero soundtrack. In 1995, the year I was born they released Vault. In 1996, they released Slang. In 1999, they released Euphoria. In 2002 they released X. In 2004 they released Best Of. In 2005, they released Rock of Ages the Definative Collection. In March of 2006, Vivian Campbell did a radio show and I talked to him. In May of 2006 Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell did a radio show and I talked to them. On May 23, 2006 they released Yeah! from Michael Hodil

Just so you know where I am coming from...I was in my late high school years when this came out and everyone was on a Def Leppard high! If you wanted to get laid, or just have fun, this was the record for you! Understandably so, this record took a long time after Pyromania which was my introduction to the Def Lep guys. The guitar work on this is amazing, the lyrics were great (made every chick blush at times), and the sound just seems to surround you. My personal favorite is the song WOMEN, which has a great groove and a solo which will rip your skin off. Even the songs like Dont Shoot Shotgun and Excitable, were fun rockers. The other hits are as solid as music can get, and if you havent heard them..Where the hell have you been?, and, do yourself a huge favor and listen to this album!

The year, well for me it was freshmen year high school I was just learning to worship music nevermind hard rock music this album came out and oh my god felt like the world changed Hysteria here Hysteria there ripped jeans... you get it. Any way really simple A MASTERPIECE pure enjoyment to listen to. These songs were polished to perfection songs like "Women "just make the hair on you neck stand in a time of cassettes I often found my self fast forwarding or rewinding to really rock with" Don't shoot shotgun " or if you feel more poppy "Animal" folks I grew up listening to that trademark sound definitely worth the money.

1981's "High And Dry," and 1983's "Pyromania," the predecessors to this album, are probably the best studio albums that Def Leppard did. Although none of their stuff is bad, these three helped define rock in the 1980's. Considering this album came out in 1987, and "Armageddon It" and "Pour Some Sugar On Me" weren't even released to radio or MTV until 1989, it cannot be dismissed, discounted, or disrespected. Choosing music for personal tastes happens; not everyone is the same. But on some albums, even if it isn't someone's favorite thing to listen to, it still is impossible to doubt the workmanship, especially with blockbuster best-sellers like "Hysteria." All those people that went to the concerts and bought the album can't be wrong. The follow-up studio albums, 1992's "Adrenalize," (1993's "Retro-Active" wasn't really a studio album, per-se, but was pre-recorded material, and had some tracks that were supposed to be on "Hysteria," but didn't make the cut, and 1995's "Vault" is a greatest hits album.) 1996's "Slang," 1999's "Euphoria," and 2002's "X," all are noteworthy as well. The first album 1980, "On Through The Night," is probably the least known. Matt Hancock August 20 2005 Hopefully they will continue

The appeal of "Hysteria" lies in the polished sound of Def Leppard's production along with catchy hooks and choruses. An enjoyable listen from start to finish, "Hysteria" provides excellent performances by the one armed drummer Rick Allen, Singer Joe Elliot, and most notably, the genius guitar work of Phil Collen and Steve Clark.

I do believe that THIS is the most incredible thing that has ever happened to music. I've been listening to this album for seven months straight. Every song is a hit. The music never gets old and it just makes me so happy. I love it.

Only Joe Eliot could wear such ludicrous trousers, pants so daft in their supreme mulletude that every other band of the 80s before this time faded in comparison. One of the best rock albums ever... EVER. Every song a winner... Don't bore us, get to the chorus. An album so monstrous that every hard rock band has copied it since, even if they don't realise it... If you don't own a copy, you don't really like rock. Hell, if you don't own a copy, you don't like MUSIC! I still listen to it now after 16 years... CLASS IN A GLASS.

NO WORDS CAN EXPRESS HOW MUCH I LOVED THIS CD AND JUST HOW EXCELLENT IT WAS. IN SPITE OF THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES, THEY CAME BACK AND GAVE US ONE OF THE BEST CDS EVER MADE. THE TITLE TRACK ";POUR SOME SUGAR ON ME"; ";LOVE BITES"; AND ";ARMAGEDDON IT"; ARE THE BEST ONES. IN FACT, THE ENTIRE CD ROCKS. I CAN NEVER GET BORED FROM HEARING IT.

Def Deppard are the best. I have all their albums, or should I say, CD's, and now just purchased there new one..."Now", great stuff, they still rock on, and they have been going on for meany years, so you can tell a good band when you hear them. They are still going strong, and thank goodness haven't changed their style, which is good too. Def leppard brings back old but great memories, and now i create new ones with the ones in my life now. Love bites, bringing on the heartache, and Now, all great songs!!!
thank you.....Kellie a big fan since the beginning of time.

This album was very important to me as a thirteen year old. This band ROCKED. I think this is and will always be DEF LEPPARD's best work. Lots of melody
Every song is good. This is a CD you can buy for every song, not just one hit! I still love watching the videos to this album .
I hope you agree.
Sarah in MN

Sold more than they thought, Def Leppard had created some of the best riffs I've heard. Try not partying to this CD. You enjoy it the more you listen to it. If you play guitar, you jump right in with the hair of your neck standing on end, jamming away to "Animal". Way to go guy's !!

Keith Mitchell
Regina, Canada
