After watching 2006 film The Wedding crashers i fell in love with a song called Sparks. i knew i recognised the singer and upon further ivestigation, discovered it was from this album. This has to be one of Coldplays best songs and I just wanted to let you know.thanks Leisha

This One Album Got Really Stuck in my mp3 Player for a While, It one of those Alternative Albums Which you can fully enjoy, and in 2000 we dont see a public directed group to be perfoming so beautifully, Id recommend it even to my most fierce metal headed friends. Great Job Chris, Rock on..

this album is the one im looking forward to the most. from the mistery of spies to the realism of yellow, Coldplay seems to be able to pull of any stunt with flying colors. The popular music i hear most the time is 50 cent, or some other cp like that. Coldplay is my absolute fav, and any music lover can not live not loving coldplay. the sadness in trouble, to the pure love of Fix you, it is amazing what one groupe can do. Im looking forward to the future albums with the highest level of antisapation. amazing beutiful to heart-renching tratigy, its something that we all experience, yet not in such a popular consept.

Coldplay starts off with the sometimes beutiful and sometimes tacky Parachutes which opens with the insparational Dont Panic stumbles over songs like Shiver and Yellow but ends nicely on Everythings Not Lost which bleeds (after thirty seconds of silence) into one of those pitiful bonous tracks that really should have been in the album to replace a crappy song. Chris Martins vocals soar when he doesnt sing in a high pitch, he doesnt have the kind of range he would like to think he does. The album soothes the mind but one cannot help but feel that there is an emotional detatchment from the music on Martins part, the lyrics suffer drastically in some cases even if they sound nice. There is something very plain about the tracks even though they sound fresh.

I have listened to this album too many times and still keep hitting the play button. This wonderful album will have you in a state of tranquility. You will know every word within the first few days of getting this album. After having this album in my collection for a number of years, I've found nothing quite so unique in style and sound. I feel Coldplay had a one hit wonder with this album, sadly their albums here on after are nothing compared to this beaut', in my opinion. This album will make you tingle each time you listen through and hit the repeat button. This is a depressing album, but the beauty of it will still make you feel walm all over. A brilliant contribution to today's music. Let's hope Coldplay can come up with another album that has at least a fraction of the greatness of this one.

Coldplay has been the best act since Radiohead to emerge into the rock scene. Parachutes is nothing less of great, from the sweeping start of "Don't Panic" to the great end of "Everything's Not Lost" (not to mention the secret song). It's everything to just get lost in. All of these songs put me into another world, and I get lost everytime I listen to them. "Don't Panic" starts and just pounds the adrenaline, with its obvious indie arrangements. "Shiver" is the best rock song on the album, bringing another focus on the indie edge. "Spies" is a great song with a real political meaning. "Sparks" makes me feel like I can really relax when I hear it. It's so peaceful and full of love, what the world needs. And then there is the album's leading single, "Yellow". It's pounding guitar work and it's ever-melancholy lyrics make it a wonderful song. And "Trouble", a song that puts tears in my eyes when I listen to it. Chris Martin's piano work and the lyrics of heartbreak and regret make this my favorite song on the album, along with "Don't Panic". The title song is beautiful, but it's so short. The dreamscape from the album, "High Speed", is beautiful. The music is so spacey and dreamy that it makes me feel like I want to be on top of the atmosphere. "We Never Change" gives a sense of hopelessness and yet, gives hope in the same sense. And finally "Everything's Not Lost" brings the album to a close with its uplifting lyrics. A great way to end an album of such height. Parachutes is indeed an album for everybody. It's really inspired me.

I only got this album after I'd been exposed to the brilliance that is Rush of Blood. Everyone spoke about the wonderful piano in Trouble so I had to see for myself. The second that unmistakeable hook came on, I knew I was listening to a classic. I had heard the song before but never knew this song was by Coldplay. From start to finish the album is a masterpiece. They take influences from Radiohead et al and carve it into thier own unique sound which makes this a joy to behold. My favourite tracks are Don't Panic, Yellow and Trouble. The rest are just as brilliant and harrowing. Love the "hidden" track at the end of the album which starts off simple but builds into a big, orchestral mini-symphony of a song. Ok, not really a symphony but whatever is shorter than it! Listen to it even if you don't like Coldplay or Chris Martin.

... my goodness, sometimes i just wanna ask why this world brings this kind of music where you just can't help whether you're gonna laugh, cry, getting party, or fall in love... this album has been in my collectionfor two years... and the average i play this is like, 6 times per week... after i listen to keane, i'm gonna be listening to this... after i listen to 311, this will be the next thing, after i eat, i'm gonna listen to this... sometimes i'm dictating myself to get enough of this one piece of prodigal disc but it was proven that its a matter of instinct... for two years now, i'll never get tired of this...

In a time when music is stuck in the doldrums, comes this absolutely unique and mesmerizing sound from such a talented group of young Brits. This is one of those albums which much like the classic rock LPs from the late 60s and early 70s, you can listen to from beginning to end. Throw 'Parachutes' in your CD player and isten to a sonic masterpiece unfold before you. The strongest debut album I have heard since Pearl Jam's 10!

"Don't Panic" is an "everything is alright" message. Somber yet positively neutral? Watch the movie, Igby Goes Down.
