There is a cover of a popular 80’s artist’s 80’s tune, with a special guest singer from the 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s who is also VERY popular, and it’s confounding, because it sounds pretty good. And it sold the album. Once everyone heard Ozzy doing Peter Gabriel’s “Shock The Monkey,” Coal Chamber’s 1997 release was called “successful.” But there’s too much mockery and eerie familiarity. When a band is influenced, it’s one thing, but when that influence is too recognizable, it screams plagiarism. “Tyler’s Song” is the other radio cut. If it weren’t for these two songs, there would be no use messing with it. It almost begs the question, “Why did Ozzy have to make the ONE song sound so good that it makes the album worth buying?” Or, “Why did it TAKE Ozzy to seel a Coal Chamber album?” Matt Hancock August 16, 2005

DISSAPOINTING! I thought better of this band and anticipated something far more thought provoking and mature, instead I got teen angst and sense that the band was grabbing into the darkness and coming up short for most of the album. However "Shock The Monkey", a cover, and certainly they fail to have the creative enginuity to come up with something as remarkable as the original composer, as was a nice job. If you are looking for something you can sink your teeth into, this album will leave you wanting.

This is a great CD from Coal Chamber but I wouldn't say it's one of their bests though. I had this CD for a pretty long time. When I first got it I couldn't stop listening to it but now it's just one of those CDs I just come back and listen to it for a little bit. Dez has a great voice. There is a lot of techno in some of the songs like in the song Tragedy. The lyrics are different from the there other CDs. My favorite songs are Tragedy, Elu Cu Cuy, and What's In Your Mind? This CD is worth buying. (If you need something different to listen to.) If you're a Coal Chamber fan like me you would like CD.
