Date  Helpful Rating 2 out of 3 users found this helpful  Not bad considering...Posted: 5/17/2004A review of Just Be Free by reddcho When I first heard "Dream a Dream" from the "Just be Free" album when it randomly got played on "Launchcast" from Yahoo, I thought, "What's this?". I Hadn't even heard of the album till then and I just remember that my first impression was - "What's wrong with her voice?". Then I found out it was recorded a long time ago when she was only 14 with poor production. So all things considered, its not a bad effort on her part, but I can see why she never wanted it to be released. Was this review helpful? This is more like a demo album compared to her other two. In fact it is! It is nothing like her other two. You can hear the true talent in her voice. If you are a true fan of Christina then you would be somewhat dissapointed, but you have to remember this album was made before she became who she is. Keeping this in mind, I have to give it 4 stars because the talent and voice is clearly there. Was this review helpful? Being it's a 'demo', the production is kinda cheesy but its not bad at all. Christinas voice needs a little work, (taking in account shes only 15) but she still sounds fantastic! All these people talk about Britney Spears and the crap between them, but come on people grow up! They are both really great! They are both really pretty! And yes, they do put a lot of effort forth! Christina's voice is awesome, and she does wonderful things with it. I love all of Christina's albums, and I listen to them everyday. I like this album and her Stripped album the best. Too bad she dresses and acts like a slut. That is why she is always compared to Brittany (the ultimate talentless slut). Wake up, Christina, you are way too talented to be acting like that. One more thing, stop arguing about ";who is the princess of pop"; there is only one and that is Debbie Gibson the ";original"; who wrote and performed her own songs incredibly well at a very young age.So, keep up the good work Christina and I hope you grow out of this ";teen idol"; phase and start respecting your talents. I later found out that she was 14 and 15 when she recorded it which explains many things. The vocal techniques(especially transitions between tones when carrying the note) were very poor and there were many wrong notes. You do have to consider her age. For a 14, 15 year-old the vocal talent is good but still not enjoyable to listen to. The producer of this album did a poor job and the harmonies did not ";mesh";.
