After the horrible Stripped, anything seems to be great. Back To Basics is a good album. Christina demonstrates that she has a good voice and that she can be something more than a hottie popstar.
But this loooong album would have been much more better without some songs, which are just crap. The best songs are in the second cd, with the exception of Ain't No Other Man.
The perfect tracklist for BTB:
1. Intro
2. Makes Me Wanna Pray
3. Back In The Day
4. Ain't No Other Man (the best song in her whole career, no doubt)
5. Understand
6. Slow Down Baby
7. Here To Stay
8. Enter The Circus
9. Welcome
10. Candyman (awsome)
11. Nasty Naughty Boy (the second best)
12. Hurt (great)
13. Mercy On Me (another highlight)
I think that those songs are more than enough.
Anyways, it's not a Was this review helpful? I liked her wen she was XTINA and i like her now wen shes BABY JANE so i may be a little biased wen i say this album is the best album of the year easily lol. But seriously it really is, there are some really catchy feel good songs mixed with some very personal songs which listeners can relate to. Basically, go out and buy it now, u want regret it, her vocals and lyrics are out of this world!!! P Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 11/18/2006A review of Back To Basics by Anonymous Back to Basics is Christinas best album yet! She should be very proud of herself for pushing the envelope. I love the the hip-hop sound of the first disc, and the instrumental vocalizing sound of the second. I think that most of the songs on this album REALLY has the possibility of being a 1 hit. If you really want to hear real music by a real artist, buy Christina Aguileras Back to Basics album! Christina please continue to deliver the great vocals because you are the greatest. Your voice is enough to send both Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston running for the door! Was this review helpful? Still have 2 say Stripped is my fav, but this is pretty close 2 tied. I love the feel of the old blues and jazz, scratchy record sound. I cant wait until the concert, so PLEASE, PLEASE CHRISTINA, come to Canada. Was this review helpful? ok, now to the constructive side...
i thought that some songs, esp the vocally challenging songs were very well sung, but the volume of her voice sometimes seemed a little too loud and course...covering some very marvelous music arrangements behind...no doubt she has a very good voice, but too much of it can make it seem a little annoying
and yeah, Xtine still has the problem of over-doing things...again with her voice...too many yeah--ooh yeahs around...keep to the melody, we wanna know how the original melody sounds like. only start doing all those at least after the first stanza and chorus.
itll be nice to have some collaborations around as well...with good singers that can match up to her vocals...not Ricky Martin!!!...someone line bocelli, josh groban, or even ladies like mariah carey or babra streisand orwhitmey houston or kelly clarckson...thatll be a bomb!
so in short...i have a little problem with her vocal arrangements...too much of it...thats all...but not all the time...guess shes just trying to show the world that only she can do it...well, xtina, we KNOW you can do it! an dwe respect you for that. dun have to prove it anymore. and yeah...you trashed Britney big time! (i still like britney thought)... Was this review helpful? Christina has really improved, better than justin or britany by a billion miles. Was this review helpful? It gives her fans a perspective of her life, what she went through and how she feels now. She didnt hold anything back, and thats what made it worth while. Its the best CD of 2006, and I can say that from the heart. Her compition is falling below, EX. Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, and she keeps climbing to the top. This CD is excellent, and I recommend for anyone who doesnt already own it, to go get it. Its truely a musical materpiece. Thank you Christina. Was this review helpful?
