This is the lesson that Carrie Underwood has learned from and not done.
If you're a traditional country music lover, you will probably not like this album as much as someone like me who loved "Some Hearts." While "Some Hearts" showed off Underwood's potential, "Carnival Ride" fully delivers. "Carnival Ride" has a little bit of everything from the power balads like "I Know You Won't," to funny songs like "Last Name" and "The More Boys I Meet."
What's so interesting about Underwood is how unfazed she is about her success. She's a small-town girl from Chekotah, Oklahoma and it really comes across in her music. In "Some Hearts" you really see the aspiring country singer but in "Carnival Ride" you see the country music professional.
I think my favorite couple of songs are:
1. All-American Girl: This one made me cry
2. Just A Dream: A sad one, great story, great emotion.
3. I Know You Won't: Big time power ballad.
4. Last Name: Funny, funny song
5. You Won't Find This: The MOST bittersweet song on the album.
6. The More Boys I Meet: It's really a great cultural critique of the dating game.
Carnival Ride is a vast improvement over Carrie's freshman offering "Some Hearts." She shows more maturity, growth, and a willingness to not only show more emotional, power range in her singing but in her song choices. This album is definitely a fresh taste from the carbon-copy market that is rock, pop, hip hop, and even country. It will make you smile, laugh out loud, and cry, and if an album can do that then it's a definite must buy. Carnival Ride is worth a shot so check it out! Was this review helpful? Carrie Underwood has a great voice; her growth and confidence can be heard through every song on her latest album. This AI alum only gets better and better.
Each track has a little special something. My favorites are (in order as listed on the playlist) are "Flat on the floor', 'All-American Girl', 'So Small', 'Just a Dream', 'Get out of this town', 'Crazy Dreams', 'I know you won't', 'Last Name', 'You won't find this', 'I told you so', and 'The more boys i meet'. This is a good cd that you can pop into your car and just drive.
The album is a little bit more mature than the last. The songs and the artist have matured, and rightly so. There are those slower songs or ballads she's become known for like 'So Small', 'Just a dream', 'I know you won't', 'You won't find this', 'I told you so'. Embedded among those are light-hearted, fun, sing-a-long songs reminiscent of 'Before he cheats' level of energy such as "Flat on the floor', 'All-American Girl', 'Get out of this town', 'Crazy Dreams', Last Name', and 'The more boys i meet'.
It's a great cd and this girl can belt out some tunes! Great new songs from who i believe is THE best AI alum. I'm sure she'll bring in plenty of awards for this one as well. Was this review helpful? I can't stop playing it. I compare it to Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You".
This will definetely be a crossover hit. Was this review helpful? I really enjoy this albumn a lot. Carrie could sing the menu in a chinese resteraunt and sound fantastic.
I think she has stretched herself with this one and there are quite a few "crossover" songs for everyone to enjoy.
Now where can I find the elephant ears...? Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-6 of 6 Per Page |
