This is a great album. The only thing that would have been better would have been if it were sold as "Bruce Springsteen Greatest Hits Vol. 2". But about 1-third of the songs on the first two CD's of the album were on the Greatest Hits album. But mixed with the other 2-third songs on those CD's work great. But the third CD is really great (except maybe for the acoustic version of "Countin' On A Miracle", the original on "The Rising" was better.) But "From Small Things (Big Things One Day Come)", "Held Up Without A Gun", "Trapped", "None But The Brave", "Viva Las Vegas", and "County Fair" are great. Go ahead and give this album a try. I'm sure you'll enjoy it whether you heard the original albums' recordings or not.

It is really hard listening to all these high school drop-out try to tell us what we should think. He can stuff his @*&^%$ music where it belongs.

There are some lovin' songs on here and they got
me dissapointed. Why? Because I first started with
Bruce's last album The Rising I've tryed. These
songs are really good on here and I like Glory
Days a lot on here and Human Touch is great too.
Better than other Bruce Springsteen albums. It
also features The Rising, Lonesome Day, Darkness
on the Edge of Town, Born to Run, Thunder Road,
Rosalita (Come Out Tonight). Not so great are these 3 that are better on The Best of Manfred Mann's Earth Band, they're Blinded by the Light,
For You, and Spirit in the Night. Disc 3 is terrible just hate disc 3 and never listen to it.
I like Disc 1 a little better, but Disc 2 is really good. This is best of most Bruce Springsteen albums. If you never heard these songs, buy Greetings from Asbury Park, NJ first.
They're not better on that album.
Being a fan from his first album, it's hard for me to not feel that something is missing. This is a great starter collection for the uninitiated, but for long-timers there is repetition with "Greatest Hits" and also some questionable inclusions/exclusions. Yes, Bruce put his imprint on this selection, but some of the tracks are those I could do without (acoustic version of "Counting on a Miracle" is one). I was hoping for more rarities from the 1975-80 period, not to mention some long buried gems like the electric version of some "Nebraska" songs. Its great to hear some old chestnuts remastered. But I'm hungry for more. By the way, the liner notes on the book contain a lot of mistakes....minor complaint, but hey isn't this supposed to be "essential"? Get it anyway. It's a great way to get an overview of the career of one of the most significant figures in rock'n'roll.

Listening to this CD, just brought back good memories from the first time I heard and fell in love with Springsteen's music. As far as I'm concerned there is no better song writer. And I'm probably one of his youngest fans. I will be sent to my grave with my Springsteen records, because his music was my savyor at one or two points in my life. I hpoe his music is enjoyed and reconized forever. Amiee Adams
