Okay, so I absolutely adore You Forgot it in People, so like most loyal fans, I preordered the CD and waited it out - fully understanding that a leak would be availiable just before it was released. I resisted until that CD came in the mail, and let me tell you- I was surprised on the first listen. YFIIP was a more ambient work, a post rock album, yet with some pop bass hooks, so I was expecting more of the same. It at least started out the same and then it started... the horns, the noise. That's when I knew... I'm listening to the Sonic Youth of our generation. Broken Social Scene is the best noise rock album I have heard since EVOL. Standout tracks on this are Ibi Dreams of Pavement, 7.4 and Windsurfing Nation. These are the Stars and Sons, Almost Crimes and Cause = Time that we adored. Don't be disappointed by the difference in tambor of this album, but be amazed by their brilliance. Two more records are tenatively slated to be released before summer 2006.

I know nothing of this group, if it even is one, or where they are from, but as an older music listener and musician, I found this a refreshing sounding record. It takes me awhile to figure our and is challenging sonically, which I appreciate. Experimental, quirky, arty, punk-influenced, good rhythms. Just saying I like it.
