Back in the 80's when this album first came out, I was 10 years old at the time it came out, and I can still remember when it first came out....I had to get the album....I begged my parents to get me the album because each song spoke to my soul in a way that made my soul vibrate down to the core of my soul....It is songs like these on the Slippery When Wet album and on the New Jersey album that speaks to the soul in a very deep way that I will never forget.... This song was so real to people. Detroit was the murder capital of the world. So when you got in your car you could get killed or carjacked. * Where Car Jacking orgininated from Detroit *. Same thing happen back in the Wild West. Billy the Kid was famous for it, however it was on horses! So then people drove with a loaded 6 shooter under thier seat. So if you were out late driven in Detroit you were and your car were wanted DEAD or ALIVE. Anyways that song and this album rocks even to this day! Was this review helpful? I'm only 18; but, being raised on Classic Rock, I have come to LOVE Bon Jovi. My favorite song is "Livin' on a Prayer" off this album. It's an example of the true lives of people in the lower middle class. I recommend this album to people of all ages. Just don't tell the kids where the album name came from. Was this review helpful? A tribute to life on tour, slippery when wet offers an insight and connection to our own lives, minus the rockstar status. A timeless collection of 80s rebel rock when the only thing that mattered was the clean crisp music, the night and the hope for a new day. Was this review helpful? He is absolutely so cool and HOTT! This album was the first I bought from Bon Jovi and trust me it won't be the last because Bon Jovi is going to keep on rocking until they die and they are never going to get old. I love them!!!!!!! I bought it about 2-3years ago when I was 13 and I still listen to it every chance I get (which is every day of my life right now). I cannot belive msn put lick it up on there though, dont know how in the world they got it on there... Anyways if I had to choose between two albums one by Creed or one by Bon Jovi it would have to be this one, hope every up-coming Bon Jovi fan gets this and I agree with everyone else when they say you're not a true 80's fan until you have this album... For any new fans checking them out, or for someone who isn't familiar with the music, Lick It Up is by the 70's/80's band Kiss who are famous for their on stage performances and their make-up.
