When I first heard this record and the passion and genuine feeling in his singing I was convinced someone was singing with conviction. Billy, this album is your best and if itd have been me, Id have kept these songs to myself and given everything after this album to the crowds. These songs seem very personal. Therefore, Billy Joel's angst was especially relevant to me. I heard him, I understood him, I knew him. Who'd want to be one of the good if the good die young and the bad have so much more fun? We were all Brenda and Eddie and we wanted it all, no matter how irrelevant to our situtation "it" reallly was. But now, more than 25 years later, this is still a great listen. From the starting with Anthony to the ending Dream, there's not one weak song anywhere. This one is classic, even if we all still have a bit of the stranger in each of us. Was this review helpful? Billy Joel Rules! Was this review helpful? It's like a good book- yes, there's other albums he's released that are top notch, but this one is great listening troughout and I appreciate reminding myself how really good it is by digging it out and listening to it every now and then. The songs just seem to flow naturally one to the next in a very awesome, refreshing kind of way. It really does my spirit good to hear these tunes again! It's got a healthy mix of fast and slow stuff, happy and melancholy songs, and dreamy and realistic music. It's got plenty of meat to sink your teeth into. If you want to know what I really mean, I suggest you try listening to this album for yourself. Was this review helpful? Sign In 1-4 of 4 Per Page |
