This album is just as good as jagged little pill. I love all of her songs and i think that she is a great singer song writer and all the songs have meaning to them. If i was you i would get this album and her jagged little pill album, because they are both great cds Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 0 users found this helpful Posted: 6/16/2003A review of Under Rug Swept by αnαilε The basis of my adoration of Alanis' music has always been her originality and free expression. While the expressive thought and emotion have definitely been revealed in URS, I feel the creativity hasn't continued. The songs tend to follow the 'verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-choru s' train. I still love the album as general music, but not as an Alanis production. Was this review helpful? ";lets grease the wheel over tea, lets discuss things in confidence, lets be out spoken, lets be rediculous";, lets all listen to alanis morissette!!! Was this review helpful? Alanis is back with an album that stands out alone as her best if not better work. Her lyrics are very easy to crasp shes no longer trying to hard shes exepted her ability to say so much and never feel bad about it thats her healing process. And Thank U for that she brings out so much pain and self relenace exeptaing that her misarable outcome in relationships may of been beacause of her own lack of connecteveness she still bithces threw out the album its her trademark but now we see a grown and mature woman running away from postpardom angry period. she recaptures her sensetivity and vulnerability she s awesome about everything . Under Rug Swept is a great album.Key Tracks: That Particular TimeSurrendering, Utopia,So unsexyAlanis is back and better than ever. This cd has no Pop icon songs a cd to reflect and cry about. Thank u india tahnk u Alanis. Was this review helpful? It left behind a lot of the quasi-spiritual gobbledegook of SFIJ, and returned to a pop theme. I love all the songs on the album except for ";A Man";- is that how all women see us men? My favorites are ";Flinch"; ";So Unsexy"; ";Hands Clean"; ";Surrendering"; ";That Particular Time"; and ";21 Things";. You can tell that she wrote these songs without the influence of Glen Ballard, who wrote and produced her other albums and actually helped get Alanis to reveal herself and show her emotions(sometimes angry and bad, other times reflective and good). As a die hard Alanis fan, I have been able to share this album with my friends and get a much better reception than I did with SFIJ. I also just bought her new release ";Feast on Scraps"; which contains songs she wrote for this album, but they never made them on. That one is good also. If you want a more JLP-type sound, buy ";FoS";. URS is still more for the popular sound, but Alanis fans love her music through thick and thin. This album rocks!!! Was this review helpful? Sign In 3 out of 3 users found this helpful Posted: 7/12/2002A review of Under Rug Swept by infatuationjunkie2002 previous alanis albums have changed the world of music and inspired fanatical devotion. the same is not so with "under rug swept". the album debuted at number one but quickly fell off the radar. what went wrong? the album is more pop-oriented than her two previous studio albums and therefore probably lost some of her dedicated fans. however, that doesn't mean that it is a bad album.

"under rug swept" is full of introspection and trippy pop beats that mesh well with the beautiful, melodic hooks, though the lyrics are more psyco-analytical and lack a lot of the personal details that made fans fall in love with her. the album sounds to clean to be an alanis creation and is in need of some serious, raw musicianship. but even with all the changes, alanis seems to put her heart and soul into each and every one of the songs. as always. with unbridled energy, alanis once again manages to add some much needed excitement to music. though it's not up to standard with her previous work, it's a hell of a lot better than most of the crap that is out on the market today. i highly recommend this beautiful album. It is hard to take you out of my CD place because the songs on "Under Rug Swept" rock! My favorite song on the CD is "Utopia"... it is such an inspirational song and if you listen to it, it will soothe you and take away all the pain and stress. All of the songs are songs that some teens can relate to. I recommend everyone to buy this CD. You won't regret it! Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 7/15/2002A review of Under Rug Swept by Tjwonderboy I reaaly find this CD amazing, I absolutly think that Alanis is the best on what she does, and I find my self so attached to her lyrics, I've listened to the last 4 albums she made, and all of them are great, but this one just surpassed them all, and the way she interpretates all of her songs it's unique, I'm mexican, so if you all know it's hard for me to find someone else that likes Alanis Morrisette the way I do, but I'm pretty sure that those who know about her de respect her, Alanis just so you know, you have your number one fan in Tijuana, and that'll be me, I know you are the best and you'll be always on top. Sign In 1 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 6/24/2002A review of Under Rug Swept by ARGH3 Alanis Morissette has always had self indulgent lyrics, but on her new album, "Under Rug Swept", the lyrics here take the cake. Never have I heard such silly lyrics from Alanis and quite frankly it's a disappointment. This is Alanis's first time without producer/co-writer Glen Ballard and it shows. The album has little production and the arrangements are boring. There are some great songs, such as "Hands Clean", Flinch", "That Particular Time", "You Owe Me Nothing in Return" and "Surrendering", but all in all this is a disappointment. Was this review helpful? Sign In 0 out of 1 users found this helpful Posted: 4/3/2002A review of Under Rug Swept by MuncieIN Personally, I really liked her first album. The next one I liked a little less. This one was a disappointment for me. I see a declining trend in creativity here. Most of 'the other songs', all sound pretty much the same. If you're in a good mood, and you'd prefer not to be...what are you waiting for? This is your ticket! You can feel sorry for her and yourself, at the same time. She can do better, but everyone was expecting the next album; so, she just sort of tossed it out there...a rough draft, in my opinion. Was this review helpful? But the sad thing about Alanis is that not to many people seem to understand what a down-to-earth good singer she is! I was talking to a couple of my guy friends and they were talking about the top 10 bad things to ever happen to men. Guess what number 2 was? Celine Dion, (i personally agree with that, for men and women). But the sad thing was that # one was our beautiful songstress, Alanis! I smacked him of course. But i hope you buy this album because of how good it is. I smacked my best friend over it, this CD's worth it! Was this review helpful? Sign In 2 out of 2 users found this helpful Posted: 3/24/2002A review of Under Rug Swept by essence_rather_than I love her new album. Actually I love all of her albums. I do not think that it is better than the previous ones but it adds to her greatness. In the back of my mind with the Junkie album, a friend of mine asked me what I thought, if Alanis came out with another what I thought it would be like. I told him that it would be a combination of Junkie and Jagged but she would have a different feel to it and the way she would express her anger/sadness would be that which would be expressed differently and she would incorperate different instruments. I was greatly impressed how her new album came out. It was better than I expected.

I would definitly RECOMMEND this album for all the LOYAL, Dedicated Alanis Fan, no matter how you choose to say you like her.
------------------------
--- -----------------------------
not think that it is bett the album, I cannot pick a favorite song I like all of them {I cannot pick one} but if I did it would be (see the respected pull down)

Sorry if it seemed repeated from the pull down menues.
