Their debut full-length album shows the Post taking various sounds and mixing them together with their college rock background. On many of the songs there is a hypnotic tribal beat, followed by other songs with an ambient sway. The vocals work into the music almost as another instrument, wavering and swirling with the distorted guitars. With little to no effort the band is able to switch gears from seductive to intimate and from there to something else totally new. While they may pick up influences from Joy Division, Godspeed You Black Emperor!, and Talking Heads, the Post are also just about as original as any of the aforementioned acts are. Backwards is certainly a strong debut album. ~ Kurt Morris, Rovi
