Critic's Review:
Drummer Hisham Bharoocha's exit from Black Dice helped allow the on-again/off-again group Pixeltan to reconvene and finish incomplete tracks that had only begun to take shape. The trio, rounded out by Plate Tectonics' Mika Yoneta and Devin Flynn, supply two songs that rate with the best danceable neo-post-punk made since 1982 -- the brilliance of which falls heavily on the shoulders of Bharoocha, whose drumming is both muscular and nimble in extreme measures. "Get Up" and the slightly lesser "That's the Way I Like It" fall into the cranky/catchy category with thick, driving grooves, neck-jerking stop-start dynamics, and irritable vocals -- and yet, there's not a scratchy guitar to be heard. The nine-minute DFA remix of "Get Up" (curiously given top billing on this 12") contains most of the team's trademarks without seeming like too much of a replay of their other best moments. ~ Andy Kellman, All Music Guide
