The Philippine label OctoArts/EMI released Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin [Original Soundtrack] (You're the Only One I'm Going to Love) in 1999, a compilation of 16 songs recorded for OctoArts in the 1980s by female singer Joey Albert. (Philippine independent OctoArts and major label EMI didn't enter into a joint venture until 1997). This album joins another compilation issued by OctoArts/EMI of Joey Albert songs from the 1980s, Joey Albert OPM Timeless Compilation Gold, Series 2, which was released in 1997 and also contains 16 songs.
The 1999 compilation contains five songs not included on the 1997 compilation, while the 1997 compilation contains four songs not on the 1999 compilation. The five unique songs to the 1999 compilation are the ballads "Halika Na Muli" (Come Here Again), "I Love You So," "It's Over Now," and "Goodbye"; the remaining song, "Sana'y Malaman Na Niya" (I Hope He Will Know), is somewhat jazz inflected.
The songs on Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin are dominated by middle-of-the-road ballads and easy listening love songs. There is a notable lack of diversity, and the songs would be more distinctive if there were more upbeat numbers. As it is, the songs have a tendency to sound alike. Joey Albert's voice isn't the worst of vehicles, nor is it the best. Still, she is mostly tuneful, but teeters on being off-key in some spots. "Sana'y Malaman Na Niya" has a quiet, jazzy arrangement and the song softly swings. ~ David Gonzales, All Music Guide
