After cutting a handful of brilliant singles for Decca in the mid-'50s, Jackie Lee Cochran became the King of Rockabilly, West Coast Division with a decade's worth of performances in barrooms up and down the West Coast. Producer/rockabilly fanatic Ronny Weiser recorded Cochran in the '70s for his Rollin' Rock label, and the best of those sides are collected here on this 20-track compilation. Cochran still had a lot of gas left in the tank when these sides were cut, and Weiser wisely kept the production simple and spartan. Highlights include a snappy recut of "Mama, Doncha Think I Know," "Hell to Pay," "Hip Shakin' Mama," and "Hug'N'Kiss Me." ~ Cub Koda, All Music Guide
