The Black-Man's Burdon

Critics' Reviews

amg review
Former Animals lead singer Eric Burdon resurfaced in 1970 fronting a mostly black group named War. Their debut album actually cracked the pop Top 20, but by the time this follow-up was issued seven months later, the novelty had worn thin, and Burdon and the group would soon part company. It was a two-record set, with the most distinguishing feature being its front and back cover art. There was one good message track in "They Can't Take Away Our Music," but otherwise it was a rambling, unfocused document. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi
