Critic's Review:
The American debut from Gavin King is a reworked version of the 1997 singles collection released in Britain as Aphrodite Recordings. Included are a few special remixes of some of his best-known productions, "Spice (Even Spicier)," "Music's Hypnotising (Re-Charged)," and "Style from the Dark Side '99," plus new tracks and a few untouched classics. Though the instantly recognizable Aphrodite production style -- one minute of excellent midtempo hip-hop breaks, then your average jump-up anthem complete with a quivering bassline and not much else -- isn't suited to a track-after-track collection, just getting original classics like "King of the Beats," "Summer Breeze," and "Woman That Rolls" makes it all worthwhile. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
