Aavikko has been a well-kept secret for too long a time. For listeners' good, as that has caused their music to remain as fresh as it has ever been. Those who aren't so aware of Aavikko's indie background might accuse Aavikko of being a total Add N to (X) rip-off, but Aavikko created their unique sound of analog synths and acoustic drums completely by themselves. And as in Add N to (X)'s case, Aavikko's process of music creation might be very serious, but the result is utterly fun party music. Songs like "Sport's Criminal," "Seoul '88," and "Fyysikot Tiedottavat" have a great groove combined with amazing keyboard lines. Not to mention the single hit "Viitostie," which must be a tribute to the mother of all electronic artists, Kraftwerk. And even though this synth theme goes on all the time on the album, listeners can't get tired of it. The some kind of lack of diversity in the long run causes there to be some songs that can be considered filler. But that's alright, because as a whole Multi Muysic is still a masterpiece. ~ Antti J.
