ENCINO, Calif. -- Trace Adkins, Brooks & Dunn, Miranda Lambert and
Montgomery Gentry have been added to the roster of major country artists
scheduled to perform during the 43rd annual Academy of Country Music Awards. The
May 18 ceremony will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
The artists are the latest addition to a lineup including previously
announced performers Rodney Atkins, Sugarland, Taylor Swift and Carrie
Underwood, all nominated for awards at this year's ceremony. Country icon Dolly
Parton will also perfrom.
Adkins, a two-time ACM nominee, most recently appeared on reality TV series
"Celebrity Apprentice" and saw his most recent single, "You're Gonna Miss This,"
hold the No. 1 position on the Billboard Country charts for three weeks.
Brooks & Dunn are nominated as Top Vocal Duo for the 17th time, having
previously won that category 14 times. The veteran act has notched the highest
number of ACM awards for any nominee in the academy's history, having snagged 24
awards to date. They compete this year with Montgomery Gentry, also nominated as
top duo.
Miranda Lambert, last year's ACM winner as Top New Female Vocalist, is
nominated for three awards including Top Female Vocalist, Single of the Year
("Famous in a Small Town") and Album of the Year (the platinum-selling "Crazy
Ex-Girlfriend").
This year's awards ceremony moves to Sunday evening and continues the
academy's presence in Las Vegas. Reba McEntire returns for her 10th appearance
as host for the show, which will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden
Arena on May 18 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The show airs at 8 p.m. PT via delayed
tape.
