Radiohead's DIY Album Strategy: With major labels scrambling to reinvent their business and artists wondering which record company's lifeboats might float, Radiohead took artistic independence to a nervy new frontier, releasing their new "In Rainbows" album on the Web and letting their fans set their own price. Did the band go out of business? Hardly. By placing confidence in their fans' consciences, they may have reaped a variable harvest, but they proved the album is hardly dead for bands with vision.
