The definitive girl group??  The Shirelles??  They may have been the first girl group, but the definitive girl group had a song with the line: "But mama said, no you just have to wait!  She said love don't come easy, it's a game of give and take... Mama said, YOU CAN'T HURRY LOVE... by the DEFINITIVE GIRL GROUP, THE SUPREMES.
