"Life on a Rock" is an intimate and varied batch of songs that are very personal, largely inspired by the people and places Chesney encountered during extensive periods of time spent in the Caribbean. (Chesney will donate a portion of his proceeds of the sales of the album to the Friends of the US Virgin Islands National Park).
"Life On A Rock came from such unlikely places," says Chesney. "Literally some of these songs were carried around in my backpack or my notebooks, just written to remember a moment ... I never thought anybody except my friends would ever hear them."
In addition to Chesney's foundation of bedrock country, the album broadens his musical pallette to embrace Calypso and reggae. The album includes a song written with The Wailers, as well as a guest spot from country icon Willie Nelson.
Even with 24 No. 1 songs to his credit, and having sold more than a million tickets on each of his past ten tours, Chesney is not planning to kick back and relax. Kenny and his band are kicking into gear for another busy summer on the No Shoes Nation Tour, hitting a collection of arenas, amphitheaters and 19 Stadiums.
