'Joe Satriani: The Complete Studio Recordings' is out April 22


Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, has provided MSN with an exclusive track from rock guitar virtuoso Joe Satriani's forthcoming 15 CD box set, "Joe Satriani: The Complete Studio Recordings," the most comprehensive overview of Satriani's career to date.

The previously unheard "Cool #9 (Alternate version)," streaming here, is representative of Satriani's accomplishments as instrumental solo artist, A-list sideman via tours with Mick Jagger and Deep Purple, among other acts, and membership in supergroup Chickenfoot (with Sammy Hagar, Michael Anthony and Chad Smith). Prior to his emergence as an influential rock instrumental star with 15 Grammy nominations to date, Satriani worked as a guitar teacher with an illustrious array of future stars including Steve Vai, Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Larry LaLonde, Counting Crows' David Bryson and Charlie Hunter.

The library box set comprises all 14 of Satriani's studio albums from "Not of This Earth," his 1986 debut, through 2013's "Unstoppable Momentum," along with a newly-curated anthology disc of rare compositions and performances.
